Narration: {The countdown has started.}
Kei has just told the S.A that Hikari is going far away. However, he knows that they don't want her to leave. With confidence, he tells them that they can do something about this even if there's just a tiny possibility to succeed.
The day of the summer festival arrives. People from far and wide attend the event. One of these people is Yui (remember her?). She and a couple of her friends reach the location of the recreation and see one giant tent. Sakura, wearing an S.A uniform, pops out of nowhere and welcomes them. Yui asks Sakura why she's wearing an S.A uniform. Sakura explains that every person who participates in the festival gets to wear the S.A uniform. Yui and her friends are more than excited about it.
Meanwhile, Hikari participates in an arm wrestling match wearing old western cowgirl cosplay. Right after she defeats her opponent she turns to the crowd and asks who will be next.
While standing by, Hikari overhears a couple students talking about her move at the end of summer vacation.
Hikari thoughts: [To me this festival is the last festival I'll do with the S.A.]
With a sad expression, Hikari explains that each S.A member has prepared their own attraction. In addition, to make it seem like the “S.A festival”, each participant is allowed to wear the S.A uniform. This has definitely boosted everyone’s fun. Hikari reveals that her attraction is an arm wrestling competition, and all the while she gets to wear different cosplay outfits. (As suggested by Akira.) She’s determined to have as much fun as she can during this festival. There also happens to be one last thing she wants to do before the festival ends.
Behind the scenes, the student body president, Hajime, looks in on Hikari. The vice president asks him if he’s going to go in. However, Hajime comes up with the excuse that he just got out of the hospital, so he can’t go in. (Sure, it comes as a convenience now…-.-)
Yahiro calls out to her. He asks her if she’s growing tired of challenging people in such a noisy place and tells her he can take care of her attraction. Hikari is about to tell him that she can’t leave her post until he reveals a huge Hikari robot that can take her place. She asks him when he had the time to make that thing^^. Yahiro urges her to have fun searching for the other S.A members, and Hikari immediately agrees to go when Kei is mentioned. As Yahiro watches her leave, he grins with a bit of loneliness shown.
Yahiro: “See you later, Hikari-chan.”
The first place Hikari stops by is Kei’s attraction. She finds a lot of business people there, as well as Aoi. Aoi tells her that Kei had some business and left. Aoi switches the conversation and asks her if she’s really moving. Hikari confirms it and Aoi starts crying^^. Hikari pats him on the shoulder and tells him he shouldn’t be making that sort of face at a festival.
He tells her that Kei left for Jun’s booth. As she waves good-bye to him, Aoi calls someone on the phone, telling them that Hikari is heading in Jun’s direction.
When Hikari gets to Jun’s attraction, she comes across a room full of girls that look totally wasted. Hikari spots Michiri (the girl from chapter 40 who adored Hikari) and asks what happened there. Still under a spell, Michiri tells her that Jun left them there to watch over the place as he’s away. Jun appears on a screen and greets them all, causing the girls to go crazy. Hikari realizes that it’s actually the “Inner Jun” booth and that’s why they all look strange. He tells them that he went with Kei to Megumi’s booth for a bit, so they’ll have to continue holding down the fort until he gets back.
Hikari starts for Megumi’s booth. As she greets students along the way, she realizes that this festival is indeed fun, but strange at the same time.
When she reaches Megumi’s musical booth, she unexpectedly meets Sui there. He tells her that Kei just left for Ryuu’s location. As Hikari accepts this change in Kei’s location once again, Sui mutters, “Stupid girl” and blushes. Hikari didn’t quite hear him, but when she asks him what he said, he throws a fit and tells her to go. Hikari is not hesitant to go after his fussing.
Once Hikari gets to Ryuu’s location, Finn tells her that, once again, Kei is not there and left with Ryuu to Tadashi’s place. Hikari definitely notices something strange is happening, and Finn seems to notice the troubled expression Hikari has. Finn approaches Hikari and kisses her on the cheek, surprising Hikari.
Finn: “It's a good luck charm. No matter where we go, the two of us will always be friends.”
Hikari knows that today is supposed to be the day of the fun festival, but with the absence of Kei and everyone she’s looking for, it’s feeling strange indeed.
Even when she reaches Tadashi’s battleground location, Iori tells her that Kei left for Akira’s place. Hikari is a bit disappointed that it happened again.
Hikari: “Hey, Tokiwa...Everyone is sorta...acting weird...Are they avoiding me...?”
Iori: “Yeah, it's strange, huh? However, more than avoiding you...everyone loves you, Hanazono-san.”
Hikari: “Heh?”
Iori: “Including me, too.”
Hikari begins her search for Kei again. She looks around the festival and sees all the fun that is occurring and cheerfully waves to people who greet her.
Hikari thoughts: [To me, today is the last festival I get to do at this school. I'll have as much fun as I can. And then there's one big thing I want to do no matter what. But this is strange.]
When she reaches Akira’s location, she finds Kei’s dad, Sakura’s dad, and her own dad there having tea. Jiro explains he’s there because he was invited by Kei. But concerning Kei’s presence, he tells her that he’s not there. Jiro knows that Hikari is troubled immediately.
Hikari tells him that even though she had decided to have as much fun as she could at this festival, the more time passes by, the more her chest hurts. She tries to convince herself that she can’t feel this way. Jiro interrupts her and tells her that Kei has gone to her booth.
Hikari and her father reach her own booth and find all the lights turned off. Just when she wonders why, one big light turns upon five dark figures. One of them lets out an evil laugh and says, “It's great for you to appear, you Eternal Second Place rascal.”
The five people are Tadashi, Akira, Jun, Megumi, and Ryuu with determined looks. Tadashi declares over the microphone that they’re all challenging her now. Suddenly the sound of a roaring crowd surrounds them all.
Sakura drags Hikari to the ring, but Hikari is still wondering what the heck is going on. .
Tadashi: “Well Hikari...We don't want you to transfer. So we've proposed a challenge.”
Ryuu: “The challenge will be here. It's an arm wrestling challenge. Fight us, and if we win then you'll reconsider transferring schools. And if we lose then we'll gladly see Hikari off.”
Yahiro also adds that if it comes to that then they’ve prepared many things for her transfer. Hikari still questions what they’re doing, but Jiro points out to her that she doesn’t want to run away from a challenge like this. Hikari then accepts it.
The first challenger is Megumi, whom Hikari easily defeats. Before she goes onto the next challenger, Megumi speaks with her.
Megumi: “You've always brought the happiness stones together before. Thank you.”
A twinge of sadness hits Hikari after Megumi thanks her.
The next challenger is Jun, and Hikari defeats him easily too. As he leaves, Jun chuckles and turns to her as he’s facing away.
Jun: “Did you know? I didn’t change into 'Inner Jun' around you. I've always loved that Hikari-chan.”
Hikari asks herself why she’s feel such strange feelings as she’s going through this.
Ryuu is defeated by Hikari next. However, he smiles and accept it.
Ryuu: “...For Finn...and for many other things, thank you.”
Hikari begins to look as if she'll start crying. However, she holds it in as Tadashi comes as her next challenger. He is also defeated easily. Tadashi sits up and tries to smile.
Tadashi: “Say, did you know, Hikari? My first date was you. It was fun. Thanks.”
Hikari sees the expression Tadashi has and begins to realize that the feeling she’s experiencing is causing her chest to hurt even more that it did before.
When Hikari defeats Akira, Akira begins to beg Hikari not to leave. She cries and tells her they should just go back to the greenhouse and drink some tea again. Hikari herself almost breaks down remembering them all together in the greenhouse.
Hikari thoughts: [That's right. My chest hurts this much because I don't want to be separated from everyone. But...I promised that I would go with my father. That's why, before I left, there was one big thing I wanted to do.]
Jiro looks on seriously. As the final challenger comes out.
Kei: “Hikari. It's my turn next, huh?”
Kei faces her determined to win.
Hikari thoughts: [I have to defeat Takishima.]
Caption at bottom: The final challenge with Takishima has begun......!!
~~~~~~~~~~~NEXT CHAPTER IS MARCH 5TH~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next chapter is 2 weeks from now. Yey^^. Although, it'll pass by quickly for me due to all the school crap I have.
This chapter really does have a sense of closure to it. All the characters you thought you'd never see again actually do appear (Hajime, Yui, Michiri...). My reaction to seeing Hajime was, "Whoa! That is him! Hajime!!!!!!" (Hajime is annoying, but I did want to see him again^^.)
This challenge was quite unexpected (arm wrestling LOL). It's also bittersweet in any case. If she wins, then she'll finally have something she's defeated Kei at officially, but she'll be transferring. If she loses, then what the heck was the story's main goal after all this time? I guess she'll have all the rest of high school to defeat him, but it probably won't be shown.
Ah...I saw what I wanted to see in this chapter. A decent appearance of Finn! Now I could peacefully drop S.A. *Jutsu once again points a gun at my head* Okayokayokay! Wait, why are you mad, Jutsu?! You got to see Sakura, so don't go threatening me! Anyway...it's not that I want to drop it right now. It's just that the future of my summaries/translations/scan hosting all depends on how JCblink works scans out. There is still a possibility that she'll be able to scan until the end of S.A, but I don't think she'll be able to get to chapter 98. Sorry everyone^^. *Jutsu cries*
