I guess they're expecting people to not attend the late night festivities in order to attend panels?

Email back and ask for a later time. Explain that interested persons tend to be up late Saturday because of the Masquerade and 8 AM might be a little early for your target demographic. In my experience, conventions try to work with their panelists since they want panels to be successful. Worse they can say is "Sorry, we can't move you."

No, I really don't mind. I'm just happy I got a panel at all. If someone really wants to be there, they'll show up!
