naruto ni tsuite

I yeah, two new posts from me at thepaperduet, with much art ranting. 0_o

I finally watched episode 134 of Naruto. Now for spoiler-free rambling time!

I'm still so confussled with how good this series ended up being. How in the world does a series keep my attention for SO LONG? Even Bleach hasn't really grabbed me like this. For one thing, the animation has been STELLAR for such a long series. 0_0 I can count on an awesome, earth-shaking fight at least every 10 episodes, and good animation even if there isn't a fight. The show makes fun of itself, and yet takes things more seriously than lots of other shows like it.

How? How does Kishimoto do this? 0_0

Anyway, I found out that even Naruto isn't perfect; episode 134 was aired a year ago, and ever since then, people tell me that Naruto has been on nothing but filler arcs as they wait for Kishimoto to make more manga for them to anime-ize. ^o^;; You know what... I think I like my Naruto awesome. I've decided to pause the series where it is now until a little longer down the road, *especially* for when the anime gets to the time-jump... >.> <.< That's not a spoiler, is it?

Anyway, here's the basics:

Characters: Rather than annoy you, their archtypes eventually feel more familiar and assuring. Naruto himself has way more development in any main character of a fighting-based shounen series I've ever seen.
Plot: Up until now, the show does a nice job of connecting all the varying arcs together with a constant villain without making it all feel the same. The chuunin exam went like THAT *snaps fingers*.
Theme: Heh...like the characters, rather repetitious (is there a drinking game for how many times someone says "They're just like me..." XD), but it's not overdone to the point where it's annoying.
Music: BWA HA HA, oh my gosh, the same freaking background music over and over and over again... My theory is they spent what spare change they had on BGM *after* they bought tons of awesome inrecible opening and ending themes. 0o0
Fight choreography: BEST. EVER. And not just the animation. The fact that they keep the ninja theme in the fights makes EVERY. SINGLE. FIGHT. IT'S. OWN. FIGHT.
Adaption from the manga: The manga itself has really nice art, so I'm beginning to think that that shone through to make the animation so nice. 0o0 If that's true, the animators are using that as much as they can and sticking scene-for-scene from the manga...

Okay, time for me to shut up and get offa mah soap box. XD Gah, why do I always get so darn preachy about my favorite anime/manga...
