Need More Movies to Watch on Netflix

Dec 07, 2010 04:00

Hey guys!

My Netflix queue is down to 8 DVDs and I need to populate it with more things to watch asap only I don't know what I should put on there...

Please give me some recommendations! I have lots to scan and not much to entertain me. D:

I don't care what year a movie was made, I've watched and enjoyed short films made as far back as the 1890's.

Under the Red Hood is awesome! <333 If you like Batman you should totally watch it ♥

And Studio Ghilbi's movies, that's what I was forgetting! I still have to see some myself, but "Princess Mononoke", "Howl's moving castle", "Spirited away" and "Kiki's delivery service" are beautiful <3

I'm a little reluctant with Under the Red Hood because it doesn't seem to feature any of my favorite villains besides the Joker. And I dislike Dick Grayson. :\ The art on the cover looks really nice though so I'm going to give it a try.

I saw a lot of the Studio Ghibli films during the Month of Miyazaki Turner Classic Movies had a few years ago. I liked how they also showed the Japanese version later and that there were no commercial interruptions during the films. I HATE commercials during movies!
The ones I added to my queue were:
Kiki's Delivery Service
My Neighbors the Yamadas
The Cat Returns
Ponyo
Tales from Earthsea (apparently not on DVD yet but when it's released it'll automatically be added)

I really would like to watch Only Yesterday again. I'm really annoyed that they won't release it here in the US!  So the girls talk about menstration a little, Pom Poko had GIANT TESTICLES all over the place and they released THAT!!!!!  I don't understand!! >:(

The Joker is indeed the main and more active villain of Under the Hood, though there are also Ra's al Ghul and Black Mask in minor yet important roles. I'm not very fond of neither of them and to say the truth I didn't even know Black Mask so well, but the overall was still incredibly good (and I don't know but I keep considering Black Mask absolutely hilarious in that movie).
Dick Grayson is also present but he's more like a side character, so you don't have to worry too much :3

I had never heard of Only Yesterday but now you've got me curious! Anyway, if it can console you that movie has not been released here neither. We miss a lot of Ghibli's movies... :/

I couldn't help but laugh so hard every time he flipped out, I mean, he was just so hilarious XDDD
One of the things I liked most in the movie, seriously.

I'm a little sad that the Joker is not voiced by Mark Hamill in this movie but I am curious as to how John Di Maggio handled the character. Hmmm... Maybe I'll watch it tomorrow.

Most people have never heard of Only Yesterday. Maybe becuase the target audience was adult females. I can see how it might not be all that interesting for young children as there's nothing particularly magical or fantastic going on in it. It's just a slice of life drama. Which I guess Disney deemed it not very profitable.

Couldn't you import the UK version of the Ghibli films? I think they've released all of them so far. Including Only Yesterday. I don't think there would be a region problem for you. You are region 2 PAL too right?

Uhh, I really don't know about these technical things but I guess yes? Videogames are PAL so I guess that's it.

I generally always wait for a release in our contry- which has always happened for the things I was interested in, so I never thought about importing them... but if they're English/American I guess it can be done!

I think all of Europe is region 2 PAL. So anything released in the UK should work for you too.

A lot of things I'm interested in never get released here or take too damn long so I have to import them.
