Summary: Sachiko and Asuka discuss Kureno's liver.
Author's Notes: Based on random crack when
iamzuul and I were walking the dog. I have no idea what even started it, except somehow it segued from talking about Black Lagoon. :D ..... Yeah. >> Not beta'd.
"...and he claims he's not using a jutsu to help him," Sachiko finished. She stopped stirring and instead lifted the cup to drink her tea. Her other hand supported her head. "Personally, I think he's lying. There's no way anyone who isn't using chakra to help their liver filter could drink as much as he does and still remain as coherent as he can."
Asuka ashed her cigarette in boredom. Why was she bothering her with this stuff? "Don't you have someone waiting for you at home?" she asked, not bothering to stifle the yawn.
"Sakurai's working late again," Sachiko grumped while Asuka took a drag and took her time before exhaling a river of blue smoke from nose and mouth.
"You knew what you were getting into when you decided to get involved with him."
Sachiko glowered, then drank more tea. "I'm selfish. Sue me. Point is, we're not talking about Sakurai; we're talking about Kureno-sensei. Specifically, his liver. It's not natural."
"I can assure you, Sachiko, his liver is quite natural," Asuka said. She eyed the Uchiha. "What are you plotting?" Asuka demanded when Sachiko kept quiet.
"Since you did mention Sakurai..."
Oh geez. Asuka sighed. "Look, I don't care that your boytoy--"
"Husband."
"--boytoy is the second-best medic the village's got: you are not swapping livers with Kureno." Asuka sipped her own neglected tea. "For the simple matter he's still regrowing it from Sasoriza."
Sachiko smirked, "Which is entirely the reason why it would be a good idea! If nothing else, it would give the liver a chance to heal and grow. I drink rather seldomly, as you know."
"Uh, huh," Asuka snorted. "How's the tattoo healing?"
"Oh, fuck you."
"Psh. Not my type."
"Really?" Sachiko replied much too sweetly as she leaned in far too close. "But Taichou, I even have red eyes~"
Asuka stared at her in disgust, the hand holding the cigarette stopping on its way to her mouth. Then she lifted her other hand, put the index finger against Sachiko's shoulder and none-too-gently pushed the Uchiha away. The girl didn't budge immediately, but a little more pressure put her back in her seat. Sachiko just grinned.
Once again, Asuka decided she liked Sachiko better when she was a sullen little angst-ridden brat.
"The second reason is that you couldn't swap livers anyway, even with Sakurai's help."
Sachiko's right eyebrow rose. "And why do you say that?" she asked.
"Different blood types."
"...How would you know that? You would've had to memorize my file, and--" Sachiko cut off, and Asuka could see it when it dawned on her. "Ah. Right. You two've known each other since... hell, longer than I've been alive. Does that make you feel old~?"
".......Remind me why I haven't killed you, yet?" Asuka growled. "Oh, right."
Sachiko drank more tea. It didn't hide the smug smirk at all. "Besides the obvious, I prefer the thought that somewhere deep down, you truly care about me."
"Please." Asuka's eyes rolled so far, they could've touched all of Fire Country's borders. "Just finish your damn tea, and go home."
"Not until I find out from someone about what the secret of Kureno-sensei's liver is." She filled her cup with more tea from the pot as Asuka's ear caught the sounds of someone coming in the front door. "Sakurai won't tell me; he says it's privileged. What is so privileged about a damn liver?"
The footfalls came to a stop, and Asuka looked up to see Kureno standing in the doorway, his expression wavering between bewildered, annoyed, and resigned. "Why do I always seem to walk in on these conversations at the worst possible moment?" he asked as he set his bag of groceries down.
"Because you have appallingly bad timing, Sensei," Sachiko grinned. "Though, it could've been worse."
"How could it have been worse?" he asked. He casted a cautious glance to Asuka, who shook her head to tell him Sachiko was simply being her usual bratty self.
Sachiko finished her tea and set the cup down gently before standing up herself. "Well," she began as she made to walk past him, "you could've walked in on me and Asuka making out." She gave him a wicked smile before casually flicking some of her bangs at him as she continued on by. "Bye, Sensei. And thanks for the great evening, Taichou~!" she all but sang.
The door closed behind her and left silence in her wake.
Moments passed.
"...So did you--"
"as;lkjgs;lgjs NO!"
