*Mina is sitting in the main room of the Mansion, writing in her ever-present journal, but she's not so engrossed in it that her attention couldn't be diverted. And she's be writing a while, and her hand's cramping a bit, in any case.*

"Is that a diary?" Vivie asks. Her mother sometimes suggested she keep a diary. It always seemed a little pointless, but Vivie vaguely remembers Mina, and suspects there is generally a point to her actions.

Vivie sits down near her. "Is it of any use at all?"

I've found it so, yes, though I hardly think it would work for everyone.

A nod. "My mother keeps one. I've never had the patience."

*helpful* I have a friend who keeps his on dictograph - that method might work better for you, possibly.

"It might. I'll look into it. . . . what do you write about?"

Oh, everything. People I meet, thoughts I have on things, books I read, interesting conversations...anything I might like to remember.

"But only the interesting things? Not . . . mundane little details? It's the idea of keeping track of everyday nonsense that annoys me."

*smile* I wouldn't waste so much time keeping track of everyday nonsense.

"You didn't seem like the type," Vivie admits. "I was thinking of my mother when I said that."

Mothers tend to do that sometimes, particularly when their children are grown, I've found.

Vivie makes a face. "I suppose. I just wish she'd do something other than make a nuisance of herself. Although perhaps she does, when I'm not there."

It's possible that making a nuisance of herself is the only thing she knows how to do, I'm afraid.

"So it would seem. But how can one live like that? Simply being an advertisement for one's dressmaker . . ."

I've never understood it, myself, but there are all sorts of people in the world.
