On reposting and crediting.

My dear visitors, please enlighten me. Is it really difficult to type "LYRICS AND TRANSLATION BY MINACCHI.LIVEJOURNAL.COM"? Because last time I checked, people would not need CSS skills or even advanced HTML skills just to make that one particular line appear with my lyrics and translations that they would be reposting on their own sites (their own page, lyrics compilation page, blog, on a video they want to sub, on a lyrics site, etc.). Or is it difficult to remember how to code a link? Here, let me help everyone with that. I'm sure that copying and pasting this would be very easy:

Lyrics and English Translation by
MINACCHI.LIVEJOURNAL.COM

Or is it just too hard to remember what my name is or where my journal is? (Not remembering my journal address would be weird, though. After all, what's the Browsing History feature of our Internet browsers for?) Then the least people could do is to claim that the lyrics and translations that you posted ARE NOT THEIRS.

People might ask: So why not lock your journal? Right now, my journal is 100% public. I do not lock my lyrics, translations, and other contributions to my fandoms (they're not much, though). I therefore would not be able to keep track of my visitors. I would not know how many have already reposted my lyrics and translations without permission and/or without crediting. I would not even know how many have already edited my translations, reposted them, and then claimed them as theirs. But despite all of this, I still keep everything public because I still want to be able to share them to everyone in the fandom who needs/wants them.

So people might say: You can't complain about your lyrics and translations being reposted, then. It's a disadvantage of keeping your entries public. Yes, this is true, and that's why I am now appealing to everyone. I am not against people re-sharing my work (and even if I am, I'm sure people would disregard that rule anyways). All I ask is for people to have a bit of respect and give credit. I am already happy when I see even only "Credits: MINACCHI@LJ" written with my lyrics and translations. I'm happier when people leave comments first, asking me if they could use my lyrics and translations. I'm even much happier when these people keep their word. To these people, you know who you are, thank you so much.

And people might also say: You're overreacting. They're just an amateur's lyrics and translations. Yeah. I'm definitely not a big-time, popular, expert translator/subber, and I've translated only a number of songs, and yes, they're only lyrics, not subtitled videos or big projects, and so I can't believe I'm writing this kind of entry. You might even think that this little outburst can't be compared to big issues such as those subtitled videos being posted on online streaming sites. But the point is that I am seeing my lyrics around the Internet without credit, and it feels very depressing to see other people taking credit for what I worked hard for. Is it inappropriate for me to feel like that? Again, all I ask is for people to have a bit of respect and give credit. I'm sorry for the long rant. I hope everyone would understand.Thank you for your time.
