Love my Dad

Working along side dad has not always been my favorite thing. I mean--it's great when it comes to cleaning up the kitchen, making dinner, or other activities that are familiar and better with family. But the tasks that are more mechanical and handyman inclined I dislike. I used to be quite uninterested about sitting by him while he was working on a car. I would cringe when he would ask me for a socket (what's a socket--oh no-I don't know the answer!!). I would be bored to tears when I would sit for hour after hour not helping.

I didn't mind short 5 minute tasks (as long as it wasn't everyone looking for something that required knowledge of the art). I would catch wood happily. Or even be okay of late with stacking wood. (Wouldn't have been okay with that back then). But long tasks--especailly one like this of re-assembling shelves--was torture. So long. SO much work. And I hate not knowing what to do or how to help and to always helping wrong.

But this time was completely different. First of all--dad was coming to help me. SO it was a project I was invested in. Second of all, I'm an adult so I"m more more mature and more able to find ways to help. I had a really good time working with dad. I found ways to help. I tried to ask questions when I didn't understand what to do. And dad--dad has become more patient and more loving in the past decade. Trying to figure out the shelves, and how to put htem back together was almost fun. I even took some pictures---because I wanted to remember how awesome it was spending today with my dad. We worked the whole time and I was sweaty and tired--but I was involved. And I'm so glad my dad came today and worked along side me. Most productive day this week!

LOVE my dad. He is awesome! I've seen him change and grow with old age--become even more patience. I think he's a great guy.

Last little bit--in a book I was reading recently the character says they think everyone should get a standing ovation at once in their life. I thanked dad--because I have had mine . And I know it's because of mom and dad's support that I got to do that. Dad told me people wanted to give him one--but they weren't allowed in Sacrament Meeting.

Haha--dad--hillarious. I admit--i've wanted to stand up and clap after an occasional talk here or two given by dad.
Love it! Night all!
