Marking a passing

Oct 22, 2007 12:48

I heard to day that a friend's cat passed recently. I'm assuming over the weekend. I'm not still in touch with Teri although she was my closest friend for a number of years. With the addition of children to my life, it got harder to be close.

Still, I feel Teri's pain. Labrys was a doll face girl. A lovely, squeaky, doofy tortoiseshell. Picture a well meaning but not terribly bright blonde. Who is all snuggles. She was a good girl and she'll be missed. She was almost 18 years old and had a damn fine run with Teri.

I'm posting this here so some folk who might not hear otherwise know. (Arial, baby, I'm thinking of you, mostly.) I'm also posting because it hit me that my oldest kitty, Kacey, is Labrys' contemporary. I think he might well be the last of that generation still standing. That stuns hell out of me. He's a big old pansy and I never thought he'd last. He's gotten horribly sick a couple times and just won't die. I don't want him too, but it still shocks me that he's the hold out.

He's getting treats tonight.
