So I just got done taking my last final exam of the semester. I thought this semester was never going to end. So now I start a summer class in a few days....and if everything goes as planned I should finally have an Associates Degree at the end of Fall Semester. I first started college 9 years ago.

I know it is ridiculous to have started college 9 years ago and only now be this close to getting an Associates Degree...but it's finally going to happen. I couldn't stand high school and couldn't force myself to continue going, so I dropped out and got my GED. I then enrolled at North Metro Tech as a Computer Programming Major. I realized after the first quarter that I did not want to be a Computer Programmer and stopped going there. Then it was about a year later that I began taking classes at Dekalb College, which is now Georgia Perimeter. I did that for a little while, but it was discouraging.

I had to take a whole bunch of extra classes because I didn't have a High School Diploma, and I didn't get credit for any of them. I still didn't know what I wanted to do with my life either. So I stopped again for awhile. Then I went back again for awhile, realized that I didn't have time to go to school and work, and I needed money. So I left again.

The final time I went back I decided I wanted to be a Theatre Major, and I really enjoyed the Theatre classes. I also managed to get the Pell Grant, which allowed me to work only part time and still have enough money to survive, so after all this and one more semester...I should finally have at least an Associates Degree. Which I guess doesn't seem like much to a lot of people, but is a big accomplishment to me. And it's better than a GED.

It's weird because I was in the Talented and Gifted Program and taking Advanced classes throughout Elementary, Middle, and High School. I just absolutely detested the school environment. So I know that it didn't take me this long because I'm stupid. I just had to figure out what I wanted out of life in order to gain the motivation to achieve it.
