Here comes a belated fan account, the whole Paris trip was really good but I'll leave it to another post. I just need to get this out of my chest.
The whole point of traveling to Paris again was for this, solely for this - Jung Yunho & Shim Changmin of TVXQ. It's been almost four years since I last saw them and indeed, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I was warned by a friend about the amount of songs they would sing - 6 in total and that they would appear only towards the later part of the show. Patience was all I needed.
I thought I could hold it in, when the other SM groups took turns in appearing, I heartily cheered for a few that I was quite a fangirl of but after 1.5 hours, that was all I could take, I really wanted to see Homin. I was really upset, or more like extremely upset about Yunho not appearing for the dance break when every group had 2 members representing their own group. Fair enough if Changmin isn't in it, we all know he's not the best dancer but no Jung Yunho? You must be kidding me. What a joke SM, what a joke.
By the time Onew came out for his solo ( either before or after the dance break), I completely lost it, I was expecting Changmin to have a solo, at least like what he did in SM Town LA, where he sang Big Time. or at least confession really, but disappointment was all I was being fed. No, none, nil, nada. So try imagine being me, being all tired and grumpy after cheering for the others to not see any of my favourite group for almost 1.5 hours, how sad.
I was also expecting Don't Don, since Changmin did a featuring in the LA one, there you go - another disappointment.
However, [s]after[/s], FINALLY, a clip was shown and at that moment, I feel a lump stuck in my throat. This was it, this was really it, after almost 4 years of seeing them live, I'm finally seeing them again. The emotion I had cannot be put into words, I have no idea whether I wanted to laugh , or cry. When they first came out on the stage, I couldn't get over the shock, at least not until they were wired right in front of my eyes. I sat on the right so I got to see Yunho.
While he was being wired up above, I feel my mouth gape, truly, the return of the kings of kpop. Sure yes, SM Town groups were good, but Yunho had so much aura, it was so natural, so strong - the aura of a leader. Realizing that what I had been waiting for is now before my eyes, the first scream from me for the night broke. 'Yunho ah!'
Before the songs even started, I felt so proud, so so proud as a fan. Words just can't explain how I felt. I apologize for the lack of Changmin action here, only because he's quite far away from where I was and Yunho was just bang smack right in front of me. By the time they were wired back to the front stage, I was already in fits, stomping and shouting. It was sure embarrassing, I'm turning 21 but I guess it's just the emotions overflowing after the whole fandom has been through. By the way, forgive me if the song lists are not in order, I can barely remember due to excitement over powering my senses.
The Way You Are + Mirotic
I was stomping, so hard. Mixed feelings were also present, as a fan that has been to their older concert as well as as a fan who still supports all the members in whatever route they decide to embark. Nonetheless, I have to say, I am so proud of how far they got. Changmin, I swear was so cute while he was doing Yoochun's rap while waving the 'V' sign around. Really wanted to pinch his cheeks!
Ment
Ment part was really cute was Yunho attempted to speak french. I'm complete illiterate when it comes to french except for a few phrases but it was quite fun. When it was quite quiet, I had to get it out, embarrassing but I really felt like I had to tell them, let them know how much they mean to me, how much I love them, how thankful I am for them to choose to come back. Summing everything up, I went on top of my lungs as I yelled 'Dong Bang Shin Ki, Chui Gu!' I hoped they managed to catch it, but to be honest, even if they don't, I have no regrets. I was quite upset at the lack of fanchants compared to other groups but hey, there was quite a number of cassies there, so /shrugs
Maximum
I don't have much to say about this since it's the usual perfection. However, after Mnet aired the HD version of it, I am 50/50 about whether it was lipsynced or not, only because Yunho sounded live and Changmin didn't. Meh, I don't mind and I can understand. I'm not going to waste my time debating about this issue. The whole point is - we know they can sing. That's all that matters really.
Before You Go
OMG. do I even need words for this? This was one of my top must listen live songs and it was any nothing less than AMAZING. Amazing is an understatement, there's just simply no words to describe. I wanted to record a fancam, but rather than focusing on holding a camera and filming it, I'd like to remember and enjoy that moment, though I slightly regret the decision now :P As a long time fan, I feel especially proud, hearing both of them improve, especially Yunho. A few years ago, I think not much fans will think that Yunho can hold a song like this on his own with only Changmin, but they made it. So well done, so proud as a fan.
p.s. I swear, the slow down part, when watched live is a mind boggling one. Too sexy to get it out of my head. Changmin looks scandalous, and Yunho sounds scandalous. I think everyone knows what part i'm on about :D Haha!
Keep Your Head Down
Right, the climax of the whole performance. As usual amazing, but there's one error on my part after reporting to
sin_delight after the concert. Apparently, because the monitor only displayed a half angle shot, I didn't see Yunho being pushed by Changmin, when in fact he did.
That period felt so short and I was left feeling dejected, wanting more after they abruptly went back to the backstage after singing keep your head down. I couldn't bring myself to cheer for the upcoming performing groups. I was too lost in my own world. Especially when other groups got that much screen time. At that point, it was slightly too much for me to take. It was really amazing while it lasted though.
However, the biggest surprise came when they came out again, all decked in white. When that familiar tune blared loudly out of the speakers, I felt my limbs go weak as I muster all I can, stood up on my chair. Yes, I stood up on my chair. But I am really short compared to the others around me so....I guess they won't mind :P Managed to film a fancam, albeit shaky which I have posted days ago. Can I say it was amazing? Just amazing.
Ending
The boys went back for a bit, came back in the SM Town Paris shirt and I was in shrieks when they walked over to my area. Homin literally right in front of my eyes. Sharp and clear, I didn't even need to zoom in on my camera, they were this close. Yunho was asked to dance to Sorry Sorry at some point as well. But one thing, Changmin was so adorable! He was trailing behind Yunho most of the time, like a little lost puppy following it's leader :P Rather than hot, he looks really cute during the ending, charismatic while he was performing.
However, they were also the fastest one to return backstage after the group bow. /shrugs. I still <3 them and this is not enough to feed my cravings. I need a Homin solo tour >________< SM!!!! What are you doing to my boys! Give them a tour pleeease!
my rambles on this : I'm sure upset with the lack of Homin performances but after talking to a friend who has been to previous SM Town concerts did mention that DBSK gets the least songs anyway and I'll be grateful and start counting my blessings as we did get to hear new songs and see them more compared to the stop in LA.
before concluding this report, I have to say, as a fan, there's no other words to describe my feelings as a fan, proud. That's all I have to say. They never let me down. A cd released by TVXQ basically spells excellence. They've really come so far. I remember Yunho saying during the 3rd Bigeast fanmeet back in 2008, how the group would work hard in order to make fans feel proud supporting Tohoshinki because of their continuous improvement.
Yes dear leader sshi, as a fan from 2007, I'm proud to say I am a fan of Tohoshinki/ TVXQ, I am proud to support TVXQ! Something that I have always wanted to say but doubt I'll get a chance to, but wayhay, here it goes :)
To Yunho and Changmin :
Thank You for making me feel proud to be a fan
Thank You for working so hard to show your improvements
Thank You for coming back
Thank You for being such an inspiration
Last but not least, I love this group and will continue to support you guys <3
