house stuff and my daemon
i made a tres leche cake yesterday, it was good, but not worth the stupendous amount of effort that went into making it (it took over 2 hours). it is pretty though, maybe i'll put up a photo later.
we need to work on our fence this weekend to secure it for small doggies. it's got tons of large gaps, and even the holes in the wire grid are probably too big for little dogs. we're going to do a board fence on the front and back sides eventually, but apparently since our lot is at the "intersection" of the road and an alley, we might have to follow the "vision clearance" requirements. though our yard is on a hill approximately 10 feet above the road, so putting a fence up shouldn't decrease the line of sight any more. we'll see. at least the weather is perfect for working in the yard and not rainy and gross.
speaking of home improvements, the boy finished sanding and putting a clear-coat on the lower kitchen cabinets, so it's all nice and woody now instead of gloppy white. he also got all the beadboard wainscotting put up in our bedroom, so now i just have to paint it and the wall above it (white and blue, respectively).
according to the golden compass movie website, my daemon is a lion. i am not sure the description fits me (or that it fits a lion either, actually- modest, solitary, assertive, responsible and humble). when i clicked this link and did the slider thing (because i am NOT assertive), it changed my daemon into a hawk but still kept the same descriptors. interesting. you try!
