Arcana Yule 2008 LE scent reviews:
Yule Goat: (the soap box co. exclusive) Celebrate ancient folk customs, the turn of the year, and sheer winter naughtiness with the beloved Julbocken. Butter CO2 extract, sweetened goat milk, musk, honey, allspice, white calluna, meadow-grass, green laurel, and a small pinch of good earth.
Wet: Honey, lurel, sweet milk, butter, hint of grassy green
Dry: very grassy with tiny hint of verbena. Very sunny and warm. I do crave for more of that sweet creamy goat milk topped with butterrrrrr.
Verdict: I love goats, cannot get enough of them. They're sweet creatures capable of learning new tricks and love to please. It's too summery-grassy feel for me but ohhh who says one cannot purchase something for its namesake?
Comfort: The cozy, sugarcoated balm of holiday solace. Delicate yellow peaches and nectarines nourish the heart while French vanilla and creamy nutmeg bolster the spirit.
Wet: Juicy peaches and oatsy-like vanilla, nutmeg
Dry: A "dry" peaches and nectarines embraced by nutmeg
Verdict: Starts out juicy yellow peaches/nectarines with fresh creamy vanilla then it mellowed to dry/dusty fruity that is being protected under the nutmeg. The "dryness" of the fruits give a sense that they are being comforted by spices. Nothing too overly ripe fruity so fear not.
NIck: Pagan origins, iconic elfhood, and laughter like a bowlful of jelly. A jovial blend of raspberry, cranberry, blackberry, pomegranate, and red grape is wrapped in a wisp of Bavarian woodsmoke.
Wet: Dark woodsy smoke. Cranberry and pomegranate overcast raspberry and blackberry.
Dry: Red grape and its juice keeps pouring out over the woodsmoke. An hour later it's mostly grapes and blackberry mingled with smoke(woodsy, not incense smoke)
Verdict: Reminds me of dark berry wines being fermented in an age old oak wood barrels. Very dark and festive at the same time. Perhaps while the berries are being made into ruby wine, a bonfire is lit to celebrate Yuletide.
JOY: All the unrestrained euphoria of the season (as enhanced by various fermented beverages). A blend of bubbly champagne and hard apple cider with sugar, creamy caramel, marshmallows, French cognac and white musk.
Wet: Sizzling Champagne, Apple, Sugar, Caramel that smells tad like chocolate, Cognac.
Dry: Apple cider with cramel sugar booze!
Verdict: Fruity and Boozy. A crowd Pleaser!! It pleased me!
