Simply Love Chapter 8

Apr 04, 2008 16:23

(A/N:  Okay so this may seem off timewise but I hope it isn't...basically the breakup/kiss took place the last day in Australia and now everyone is home)

"So, he said he wanted to be with you and you walked away?"  Nikki nodded and Amanda paused to take it all in.  Once she did she looked Nikki right in the eye.  "Are you crazy?"

"What?"  Nikki laughed slightly, that was not the reaction she was expecting.

"Nikki, you made a promise to me a few days back, the second Zac dumps her scrawny ass you'd pounce!  Walking away is not pouncing!"  She exclaimed.  "It is the opposite of pouncing!"

"Amanda, it's easier to say you'll pounce than to really do it!"  Nikki defended her actions.  "It was all so sudden and it felt...wrong."

"Why?"

"He had just dumped his girlfriend, he was probably confused and-"

"Do not make me smack you!"  She laughed a bit.  "Nikki, Zac Efron is totally and completely in love with you!  Now, when you get to Madrid you have to give him a chance!"

"You're right, I should."  Nikki didn't know if Zac did love her but she also knew Zac wouldn't lie to her..at least she hoped he wouldn't.  Then, Elijah entered Amanda's apartment where they currently were.  He gave Amanda a peck and then looked at Nikki.

"Girl, I haven't seen you in forever, what's up?"  He hugged her.

"Not much."

"Liar."  Amanda coughed.

"What?"  He looked at both of them confused.  Nikki glared at Amanda.

"I said fire...no that's worse than liar...I mean I said dire...okay Nikki nothing positive rhymes with liar!"

Meanwhile, Zac was back at his apartment in LA when he got a call from Ashley.

"I hate you!"  She exclaimed.

"What?  Why?"  He didn't need more people mad at him.

"You dumped Vanessa and because of that, I can't be alone anymore!  I mean, I have other friends, a boyfriend and a career but no all I hear is..."  She changed her voice to a whiney cry.  "Why did he dump me Ash?  It's not fair!  I hate him!"  She sighed and went back to her normal voice.  "It's horrible."

"Ashley."  Zac chuckled slightly relieved she wasn't really mad.  "I'm sorry but I mean I had to break up with her."

"I know, I know, I was just kidding Zac."

"Listen Ash, I need your advice, what would you do to get someone's attention...someone you were interested in."

"Put on a short skirt, lots of makeup, and pout."

"I'm a guy."  He sighed.  "Sounds like Vanessa though."  He added bitterly.

"Oh that's cold."  She laughed.  "Anyway, it depends on the girl...so I need a name."

"Um..."  He didn't know how to tell Ashley that he was in love with his costar and he had to get her to be his girlfriend even though he had just dumped his girlfriend.  Especially since his ex was Ashley's best friend.

"Oh my god!"  She exclaimed.  "It's Nikki isn't it?"

"Well I-"

"I knew it!"  She laughed.  "Come on, fess up, I'm not stupid Zac."

"Fine, it is!"

"Well, as pissed as I am that Vanessa will probably start screaming about that, I'm glad you finally admitted it."

"Thanks, now what should I do?"

"I don't know actually...I mean I didn't get to know her well enough so my only real advice is show her you're not going anywhere, show her how much she means to you."  She advised.

"How?"

"I don't know, that's what you need to figure out."  She heard him sigh.  "Sorry, I can't be of more help, good luck bye!"  She hung up and Zac thought about what she said.  He didn't know what the hell he was going to do but he knew the first thing he had to do was talk to her.

A few days later, both Zac and Nikki arrived in Madrid.  He wanted to talk to her but they had an interview and a premiere to do first.  During the interview, both of them said the usual stuff about how great the other was and how fun it was.  Then, it got a bit awkward when Nikki caught Zac staring at her chest and she didn't take well to it.  After the interview, they headed to the premiere and were in the limo.

"Sorry about the interview...I um...yeah."  He rubbed the back of his neck and chuckled nervously.

"It's okay...not like you've never done it before."  She replied smirking and Zac thought for a moment, maybe she wasn't that upset anymore.

"What?  I have never done that before."  He feigned innocence but they both knew she was right.  She rolled her eyes.  "Okay maybe once before."  She raised her eyebrows.  "Okay, lots of times."

"You're such a boy."  Nikki didn't know why she was acting like things were normal but she chalked it up to that she wanted things to be normal and maybe even better than normal.

"Well, you were obviously checking me out while I was checking you out so I wouldn't talk."  They both laughed and then things got silent again.  "Hey Nikki-"  The limo stopped and they both got out to take pictures.  Zac was dying to tell her how he felt, but obviously some unknown force was acting against him.  In the limo after the premiere he kept trying to work up the courage to say it but he couldn't.  They arrived back at the hotel and Zac followed her to her hotel room but she hadn't noticed him yet.

"Nikki."  He said and jumped as she turned around.

"Geez Zac, tell someone when you're in their hotel room!"

"Sorry."  He muttered.  "I need to talk to you, about everything that happened..."

"Oh."  Was all she could say.  Here it was, the moment where she would finally see if Amanda was right and she had never been less ready.

"I honestly don't know how to put this at all but let me start by saying, I understand if you hate me for what happened."

"Zac, I could never hate you."

"You say that now..."  She was about to reply but he kept going.  "Look, I was right to dump Vanessa and maybe it was wrong to kiss you at the time but Nikki, I'm being honest when I tell you there is no one else for me and I lo-want to be with you."  He sighed, hoping she would be happy at this news.  He wanted to say he loved her but he was afraid to scare her off.

"Wow...I don't know what to say except...you have no idea how long I've waited to hear you say that."

"Really?"  She nodded and he laughed joyfully.  "Wow...so we've both felt the same way for a long time and we haven't said a word."

"Guess so."

"We're idiots."  She laughed.  Zac then moved close to her wrapping his arms around her waist.  "But we're each others idiots."

"You can't call a girl an idiot before you kiss her."

"Oh right, then I'm an idiot."

"Much better."  He leaned in and kissed her.  The kiss started off slow and innocent but quickly grew.  Zac run his tongue along her lower lip as if he was waiting for her to grant him entrance which she did.  They had kissed before but this was different, there were no cameras, it was just the two of them.

"That was definitly much better."  Zac whispered as they pulled away.  "I wish I had done that sooner."

"It doesn't matter that you didn't do it before all that matters is that you're doing it now."

"You always know what to say, don't you Nik?"  She shrugged.  "You're going have to teach me of your way with words."

"I think you're alright, that speech was very sweet."

"Aw shucks."  He joked and she stared at him.

"Shucks?  I'm sorry are we doing Hairspray again?"

"Okay if I can't call you an idiot, which I never would, you can't mock me."

"But it's fun."  She pouted.

"Fine, you can mock me but I get to stop it if I don't like it."

"How?"  He kissed her fully on the lips.  "Oh, that's how...I'm gonna mock you a lot now."

"I'm okay with that."
