i'm sticking around work waiting for the show to start tonight. it starts at 8, and currently it's 6:51. i'll have to change at some point as well...but eh.
yesterday i was given a choice of what i want to do for the rest of the season.
A) be stage manager for reefer maddness, a 2ndStage musical. that would mean i'm in rehearsals during the end of my contract as an apprentice. then once my contract is up, i would get paid as a 2ndstage SM. the show goes into the beginning of August, but if it extends, it goes into September. So it would be a decent month and a 1/2 of getting paid like a real person.
B) not stage manage reefer and instead be floor manager for souvenir. that would mean i still do the 2 mainstage shows coming up in the season and then also floor manage to finish out my contract, then i would be done working at studio mid-july.
it's a fairly grand gesture for them to a) offer me a choice and b) offering me a job that would keep me here beyond my contract and they would have to pay me more for.
i just want to make sure it's the right decision...not jump into anything because it's pretty on the outside. but really, if i'm staying in DC anyway....how can i pass up getting real SM experience?
well. we'll see. now that there are people reeharsing for a directing class scene in the middle of the office, i'm going to go change...and maybe call beth.
