I need help identifying a book, and the person who can answer my question gets crowned Cleverest Person On Mia's Flist for a whole WEEK!
Ok, ok, calm down. I know. It's not every day you get an offer like that. So, best of luck chaps. Here's the question:
In which Will Self novel does he describe the main character's bourgeois choice of 200 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, and then describes the entire process of harvesting and manufacture from the point of view of the piece of cotton, in a manner that anticipates Fairtrade type discourse?
It's likely to be one of the following, as these (as far as I can remember) are the only Will Self books I've ever read: Cock and Bull, Great Apes, How the Dead Live, My Idea of Fun, and The Quantity Theory of Insanity.
I had a big Will Self phase about ten years ago, and then had to stop because I kept seeing the world in this really sour, amoral light.
