Barack Obama came to campus for a rally today on the steps of Old Main.  I wasn't certain if I was going to stick around for the actual speech; I wanted to stroll around and see the crowd.  There certainly was a crowd.  I ended up finding two of my friends who were volunteering - handing out tickets, directing people to the correct line (which snaked around from the Allen Street Gates up Burrowes Street to Curtin past the Forum - probably over a mile all told).  Unfortunately I couldn't follow them to the actual even since I didn't have a volunteer pass and I didn't feel like standing in that line, so I ended up standing just outside the police tape near the obelisk.  I could see decently well.  It was in the low-40's and I just had a sweatshirt, so I got chilly during the actual speech, but it was definitely worth going and was a pretty cool experience.

Bill Clinton spoke Thursday night, but I had band rehearsal and didn't attend.  Hillary went to the Fayette campus; who knows if she'll come to main.  Ron Paul is coming sometime next week.  Bob Casey Jr. introduced Obama at the rally today, and toured the creamery on Wednesday.   It's actually pretty exciting - usually we have to trek down to Harrisburg, beg Rendell for money, get snubbed - now the politicians are coming to us.

Most of my friends are Obama supporters and three are Clinton supporters, and already relations between groups is a little strained - as April 22nd approaches it will be interesting to see what happens.
