We are in Shreveport, La. ---the state of Louisiana,in case you don't know all the states. We are here being grandparents....and it is so much fun......First off, I am not a meddling mother-in-law......and try to follow the rulesof the house with my grandgirls. There are lessons I need to learn, just like every other participant in the family, as we all learn along the way how to live with one another. We are so lucky to be a part of such a great family......We even take vacations together!
It is the first day of the second semester for two of the three....in new schools with new friends, teachers, books, responsibilities, and the ever always ---- will I fit in. Both of my grandgirls have no problem with that...they are just that kind of girl...holding their own at age 7 orage 17. I am very proud of them.
We also have a new addition to the family......a 'service dog' named Tomato. She is a full size poodle and is wonderful. She is the guardian of my 7 year old. they are new at being a tean....so there are verbal discussions now and then as to who will push or pull who. Tomato is not a Marly and Me (movie) dog ......she has been trained to do special things to help my grandgirl and her first year of life has been in preparation for these days. I am happy she is patient.....more patient than my grandgirl.
We are playing games, reading books upside down, counting, taking walks, visiting the neighbors, sleeping in other people's rooms, but it is all in fun and having the family together. We brought our traveling cat with us......and he was apalled to think there was another animal inside the house besides him.....AND that it was a dog! Althoughhe opens 'lever type' door handles and drinks out of the toilet, he is happy being in his room on his master's bed, because of the unknown whereabouts of Tomato. It sure is tough being a pet ...whether you are the guest or the homeowner.
We will be heading to Indiana to see friends in a few days.....depending on the weather. It is now becoming winter where we are going and the days can be beautifui and sunny one morning and grey with sleet by the afternoon. We want to be driving in the beautiful and sunny.
Although we grew up in snow and 4 seasons, our pet did not.....He will be apalled once again, when I put him down in the snow! More on that when it happens.
The US was beautiful as we drove through the states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas before coming in to Shreveport. It is cool - even downright chilly, but sunny. We average about 600 miles a day and snuggle down with the cat to watch TV in the evening.
Better go and be a mimi ------- can't miss a moment..... tootle
