I had to take a minute after finishing this and just cry. I miss the Sam the I could wholeheartedly, untaintedly weep for, and this here is that Sam.

I'm pretty sure that I weep wholeheartedly for the Sam of these days too, but yeah, this Sam is so much... purer, I suppose. Not innocent, but more innocent that he was then.

Oh, but it's for different reasons. Nowadays the weeping has more to do with the results of his choices than with circumstances beyond his control, right? I really miss early-Sam.
