a certain blank, pleasantly exhausted feeling in the morning

Well. I haven't slept in 2 days.
I'm thinking about going to bed now, but I sort of don't want this day to be over. It was ... balancing on the edge of disaster and frustration for a while, but it turned into the best evening I have had in a long time.

great, great evening.
why, you ask?

I finally had the opportunity to put together an exhibit (a digital media installation, for anyone familiar with that kind of work). We borrowed a huge dome screen from my professor, who is also involved in some amazing projects at a lab nearby (I'm not listing names of professors or labs... for whatever strange reason. I just feel odd posting it on the web).

We set up the office to look like an enclosed alcove in the forest, and made somewhat of an amorphous entrance with crumpled brown paper around the door. and.. we had nice soft lighting from 3 of those push-on lights, obscurred behind tissue/ fabric sheets.

of course, the big draw was the dome screen.

We had so many visitors and I rambled senselessly I assume... now people want to work with me on some fairly interesting projects.

My professor who let me borrow the screen, is offering me something I can't pass up in the summer, though. I'd love to work with him. More than anyone else I've met here, his interests are exactly where I want to be. His style is also the sort I enjoy being around, and discussing things with... yes, I want to collaborate with like minded, brilliant people. yes, I want to eventually do something worthwhile with interactive storytelling.

I want to be an author, I want to be a pioneer (hah), I want to do something special and meaningful and unique..

For the first time in a while, I don't think those things are beyond my capabilities.

uh. of course, we have to move the dome screen back to the lab today. oh holy hell that was a pain to move to the presentation. we didn't have a truck, so we had to roll it in this massive box down a cracked, narrow HILLY sidewalk. huph. okay, so one hill and some declines which were ... interesting.
