Finally, I can shred my membership of Pedants Anonymous and stand proud, wearing my small (but tastefully lettered) apostrophe shaped badge bearing the infrequently quoted - but oh so necessary in these lax times - legend 'proud to be pedantic'
I've walked past the O2 shop with gritted teeth so many times, but today, emboldened by my son's hand in mine, aware of my responsibility for his future education and his growing understanding of the serious and important factors affecting our lives, suddenly I could bear it no longer.
I gave in.
I made my stand.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but the response was pleasant and measured; I was thanked, assured that the problem would be rectified, and the assistant could not imagine how quite such an offensive error had slipped past the manager's diligent eye.
But it's not so difficult to get it right, is it?
'We are also open on Sundays.' That's what it ought to say. Not Sunday's.
I feel so much lighter now.....
