Anime Expo 2010
Thanks for everyone's comments in the last post. It may have been some days and Anime Expo has gone by, but the silence from my backyard is still very different. I'm still exhausted from the convention and still went to work the day after. Can't work on my Comiket stuff while I'm at work, so you get this LJ entry about Anime Expo! (It's slow today.)
On to a post about Anime Expo, AKA continuation of FanimeCon! These cons are so close together they almost feel like one con. FanimeCon is our Artist Alley table con and Anime Expo is our chill con. Chill it definitely has been. This Anime Expo has been the best it's ever been!
Day 0: Drive 6-7 hours to LA, drop off car at Brad's, get taken to the hotel, move all things into room, get cosplay set up for next day. Missed registration deadline for day 0, so figured day 1 should be OK.
Day 1: Dressed up as Reimu. Getting the badge in the morning was SO EASY! SO SHORT of a wait! Never am I going to Day 0 again. Walked around a few places, karaoke contest, missed seeing the Hardcore Synergy preview, later went to the stage to see REDALiCE for all of a few minutes and have a photo taken. Got stuff ready for tomorrow, slept.
Day 2: Dressed up as Yuuka. It wasn't my outfit, I borrowed the whole thing from Nobu. Touhou meet. Missed epic May'n/Megumi concert for Touhou meet. Hung out in the West Hall FOREVER and drew a pic for REDALiCE. Went to HARDCORE SYNERGY which was a total BLAST! They usually go to ACEN and this was their first AX. We were streamed to Nico Live along with some segment with Japan Expo. Minh brought REDALiCE and crew to sign our autograph boards and it was cool. Went to have food until 5am and slept. HARDCORE SYNERGY was like my first dance/rave party and that was sooooo awesome. Gonna do it again next year if it happens. As soon as REDALiCE came on stage, the Touhou kids were SOO excited and we all got so high energy.
Day 3: Cirno. Visited Dealer's and Artist Alley. Was streamed on AX Live for a little while to add to Bryan's Reimu outfit. GOT FREE LIGHTSTICK THING! Met up with REDALiCE again and took a photo with all the Touhou cosplayin' girls. Walked around some more. Had foods. Went to Last Comic Standing and it was very long but good. Went back to room and crashed.
Day 4: Young Alice. Moved crud from the hotel and checked it into the Westin bag check. Hung out at Jinny's booth for quite a while. Said last goodbyes to people and had food at Lawry's. Went to Westin, got picked up by Brad's parents, drove to our new hotel, unpacked, showered, got ready for July 4th BBQ party at Eddie's, got to BBQ, met the DJs again, had food, hung out, gave NO+CHIN my business card and pin, drew in an artist jam and touhou'd it up, went back to hotel, slept. For once I actually had a good time at a party. Artist jam at a party? Arcade machines? Hell yeah. I was expecting college dorm type parties
Day 5: Had Ding Tai Fung, drove for 8-9 hours because of tons of traffic of everyone wanting to go home.
My trip. I bought a Rin fig for 10 bucks (!!), some posters, got REDALiCE's and MELL's autographs, and a Nendoroid Miku trading fig
