A dream I wanted to record

My dream featured a world that was like Ancient China, but wasn't. It felt like it in mood, clothing, and atmosphere. It was a kingdom like place, without the idea of kings, even though in many ways it felt like a monarch-- a group of people held positions that took care of the place. I'm not exactly sure how the governmental body worked.

I was a foreigner in this place even though I looked just like them. Everyone there was definitely Asian. I couldn't hear the language clearly enough, so it makes me believe that it was a made up language in my dream. I dressed just like them and lived with them as if I were one of them-- so much to the point that a few of them had no idea that I was foreign in the first place.

Some outsiders that were very western in appearance, came to visit this place. They brought with them new technology of rifles and such. Their outfits were really a strange mix-- kind of like the French army during the revolution uniforms mixed with English and... a ton of other western style military garb. The outfits that some of the higher ranking people in this China-like kingdom reminded me of armor in the Dynasty Warriors series. They met and talked.

Soon, someone in the kingdom teamed up with these western-like people and fought with the high ranking people of this place. They shot the people and killed them. It was so clear in the dream that I could see one of the leaders getting shot in the face with the rifle as soon as the western approached him. They were definitely all men.

I ran away to a place I felt was safe, though I can't remember where that was anymore. The westerners and that one guy who betrayed the rest of the place were now leaders.

Now, people lived in residential sections. Each section had a "residential mother" of some sort. If you lived under a section, you could not be taken care of unless that residential mother tended to you.

I wanted to get out of this place. I had never planned on staying forever in the first place. I wore something that was a lot like Mils' outfit. It was bright green with yellow trim, very Chinese silk in appearance. The jacket was very thick and where Mils' usual orange goes, yellow was there with a very intricate white pattern. In fact, the entire green part also had a bunch of white embroidery on it. It reminds me of Chinese New Year jackets, that kind of pattern. Very pretty.

I ran out of my residential section and came across a cave-like part where I could hide away from a walking guard. As I laid there on the dirt floor, I noticed there was a mouse digging a hole-- on the ceiling. It could even talk! It told me that it wanted to get out as well and that things have gone for the worse... so it asked me for help. I answered that there was little I could do... and it requested that I teach it some of my knowledge to help it get out.

I thought about for this for a moment, and decided that it was fine. I closed my eyes and it seemed like I had some kind of magic power or something, but my knowledge was suddenly visualized in the air and it flew into the mouse.

The mouse didn't get that much smarter. It may have held knowledge that I had personally shared with it, but it could not comprehend all of it. I heard that the guard was walking by, so I laid myself back down on the floor, and covered myself in what was left of a foam wrapping (foam in ancient china!?) around my waist. It wasn't even that large. He walked into the cave and I was pretending to be sleeping.

He told me to wake up, and I "woke up" and he was like, "What are you doing here? And this mouse?"

"I don't know," I told him. "I can't think of any reason why I'd be outside of my residential area..." and then I looked over to the mouse. "What is that? Why is there a mouse there? It must have lead me here! Why would anyone cover themselves in this odd foam? It's the mouse's fault!"

Since I blamed the mouse, he let me go. The mouse didn't get in trouble or anything-- he was a mouse! But since he could talk, the guy believed me.

I walked out of that cave and patted myself off. A residential mother of another area walked by and saw me-- she was someone that honestly cared about me, at least it felt that way to me in the dream. "You're all dirty!" She fixed my clothing and pulled down my scarf, to make it look neater. I suddenly felt like I was shining, like as if my clothing had never gotten dirty and thought it looked really beautiful. "Don't tell any of the other residential mothers that I helped you, okay? You know that would get us both into trouble."

"Yes," I answered, thinking about how I was leaving them all behind. I kept trying to convince myself that it wasn't my place to fight and it wasn't my home to begin with. Perhaps someday I may come back to see how things are... but my priority was definitely leaving. The place I met her at was very much the outside of an important place, though it looked more like a war site. There were wooden spikes as walls, with a place on higher ground.

I walked into an area that just screamed "Palace" even though it didn't really look like one. There were limestone walls and pillars. No ceiling, but something was overhead to cover the sunlight. I had to get through this area to leave.

I made my way through as best I could without being noticed, but as soon as I got to the end, there was a guy with a rifle. "Hey," he said, "What are you doing out here?" A ton of them were there!

"Shit," I thought. This is probably the end. I don't have any more excuses. One grabbed my collar and pulled me closer.

"Answer me," he said. "Well, too late." He didn't really give me much time to answer and pulled out his rifle against me.

I woke up with a giant stomachache.
