Her hands shook as the fighting spirit took over.

I knew it. Ron and I had such a good performance last year that it attracted TONS of EXPERT players to the tournament. So this year's tournament?

THE BEST.

Even before it started, one of the guys walked up to me. "I remember you! I practiced a LOT during the summer! This time you're going down!!!" And I replied, "Well, I can't use Seung Mina in this one... but if you're going in the SCIII tournament, expect some trouble!" I was kind of feeling pretty good that so many people remembered me from last year. The guy who ran it last year was also there, and he's like, "Oh yeah! I remember you... sorry I keep mispronouncing your name!" And I told him, "Saku is fine... if it's too hard, heh."

For the SCII tournament? I didn't do so well because I couldn't use Seung Mina... using her would screw up my SCIII Seung Mina because she is SO different. So I picked various characters, and such... I think I got 5th place or something like that. Not bad. Ron got second-- he almost beat the guy. I wish I could have used Seung Mina... but yeah, I picked her once during the tournament and lost to a really easy person. I was like, "Wait, this is the... SCIII... oops, oh well." I didn't mind that I didn't get too far in SCII because I so badly wanted to play SCIII.

DOUBLE DEATH.

Okay. The SCIII tournament. I played the first round with some guy, and beat him-- it drew a big awe from the crowd, and everyone knew that during the SCII tournament, each time I said, "GO SEUNG MINA!" even when she wasn't playing... that they hoped the hype I was giving SCIII Seung Mina wasn't a lie.

And boy... was the hype all right! My Seung Mina did WONDERS in SCIII. It's a shame that I didn't get the play the game as much as I would have liked over the past whatever since I've had it... I wasn't familiar with a lot of new moves or characters from other players, and that made it difficult... I had to play VERY defensively when I wasn't sure of what was happening. Other players were so good that they used frequent parries, and I found myself not being able to use guard impacts because they were just SO GOOD. Players (me included) kept parrying each other, and it was quite funny.

So, each time players came up to me, and I chose Seung Mina, they just knew there was going to be a good show. I perfected a few players, even. I was so happy! At the end of the first battle, since then, my hands started to shake, I felt this tremble in my entire being... I was so tired physically by the time they set up SCIII, but I couldn't lose. I didn't want to lose just because I was tired. I concentrated my hardest to the point that at the end of it all, I started to grow a headache.

During it, there was a portion of the upper division (of which I was apart of) consisted of a round robin due to the odd number of players when it came down. I was chosen to be a part of it, and I lost one, and won one... so the three of us got to play again.

For the lower division, Ron lost to someone, and... well, the third person also lost to the winner of Ron's, so Ron's was out. I didn't even get to have a chance to play him! But it's okay. It was all on me now... just as I had rooted for Ron in SCII, he rooted for me in SCIII.

Three players left.

Because I haven't lost yet, I was allowed to still lose two times. I beat the other guy. That guy lost to the other guy. He was gone. Now it was just me versus a VERY good Zasalamel. I had a problem against him because I wasn't too familiar with his moves. ;_; But yes... I lost the first time, but since I lost only once, I had to fight him again.

...here we go. I beat him one round. He beat me the other. Then...?

He won... by a LITTLE BIT. He had ONE HIT'S WORTH OF LIFE LEFT. And I LOST.

...but you know what? I'm so happy! I played with so many CHALLENGING players today!!!!!!! I shook his hand! What an experience to play so many good players! Second place isn't bad! Ron got second place during SCII, so whatever! SCIII! You are so beautiful!!!!!

I got to show off some custom characters, and this guy was like, "So, is it just me, or is that the splitting image of Agrias from Final Fantasy Tactics?" And I replied, "That's the point," with a huge smile. Jeffrey saw that too, he was like, "Saku, is that you playing Agrias?" Hahaha. Of course guys, of course.

Afterwards? Free play for SCIII. I played a ton of people!! The guy who won the tournament fought me, and I won once, and he won the second. And another guy THANKED me for playing him. He told me that the only way he'd improve is if he fought better players... and... and...!! I can't believe he considered me an expert player!!! Oh my GOD!!! I took that as such a wonderful compliment!!!!

And sooner or later, you saw Agrias fighting with Seung Mina style... and eheheh. The scoreboard before I left? 0 to 9. 9 which of was me. God... I can't believe... yes!!

SECOND PLACE? WITH SO MANY GOOD PLAYERS? HECK YEAH.

life, tournament
