Her eyes reflected the lighted water, just as much as her thoughts did.

A slight moment of time to myself. And I decided it would be writing this entry. I have grown to be much too exhausted. I haven't gotten much sleep lately at all... I... didn't eat lunch today... will eat dinner soon enough.

Birthday. Offline, my birthday consisted of most of the people here going home, going to some place for Halloween weekend, just... well, leaving Santa Cruz. My housemates wrote up a page of Happy Birthday, and hung it from our Halloween decorations. One of them even drew me a little picture. It was so nice of her.

I spent most of that day going to class. And after class, coming back. No one remembered my birthday, and I don't blame them. I don't tell everyone my birthday. It was really another day for me. I got a few birthday wishes, a lot of "WHAT?! It's your birthday?!" and a few hugs.

My birthday consisted of studying Japanese for the midterm that was on Halloween. I also studied for the Intro to Visual Arts midterm that was also on Halloween.

At night, my parents came to visit me. My brother came along too. They brought me cake from the bakery that usually go to. It's you know, a name brand in Taiwan. Sogo Bakery. Their cakes are expensive, but well worth the price. They have very good cakes.

We went out to eat Chinese. Ron, too. He was the only one I saw on my birthday among my friends. The place closed at 9:30, and we arrived at 9. I felt really bad, and I expressed that perhaps we should just go somewhere that opened later. There was a guy in front that said, "We close at nine thirty," when we first walked in, so I knew he didn't want us to stay.

But the owner of the place was there, too, and she welcomed us in. I was reminded of how my father told me that Chinese owners don't care if people come in at last minute. They make the money. Most Chinese places open pretty late, anyway. He said that Americans dislike staying behind afterhours to work. He thought it was strange. In that moment, I had wondered if I was thinking "American-like" to him, or if I was coming off as trying to be considerate. In any case, we sat down, as the owner made us feel more welcome.

I guess for those who don't know, Santa Cruz is a mainly white area. It's really difficult in itself to even find a few good Chinese places, or Japanese, or anything Asian, really.

My father sort of embarassed me, slightly. He asked if the tea came in a kettle, like at Chinese places. And I replied, "Dad. This is a Chinese place." Our waitress was amused and gave us a smile. She's the same girl who used to live on my hall last year. I remember her name because she shared the same name as my sister does-- Tina.

My father said the reason why he said that was because at a Chinese place, usually it's the tea that comes first. And I know that it's true too. Our tea didn't come until after we ordered it, and the tea wasn't free. Normally it's free. But I thought about it... it doesn't make this place less Chinese or anything. It's just a Chinese place that we've never really seen before. Of course, I think something like that would be pretty offensive in Taiwan. There's just no place that doesn't come without tea first. But what am I to know? I didn't live in Taiwan. I grew up here...

Our food was pretty good. Maybe it wasn't exactly a "homemade" taste we have in Fremont's Chinese places. But it was still good.

After the cake, we headed back to my apartment, and I showed my parents a few of my art works, while my brother just stayed annoying. They left for home...

The rest of my weekend was spent with Haruka. She brought this salmon stuff that was sooo good. And the mooncake like stuff. That was good too. We watched RE: Cutie Honey, and a other shows.

I spent Sunday staying up and finishing my work.

Online. At exactly 12AM, selphish called me. To sing me happy birthday! That was so kind of her... it was 2AM at her time, and she went to bed later than that because we chatted for a little. But... it still made me very, very happy.

The CF crew wished me tons of wishes. I love them so much. Other people gave me a few wishes on LJ. I think my birthday online seemed more exciting!

A lot of people online didn't remember my birthday, either. And of course, that's because I never tell! Ha. Hahaha. All of you! HA!

So in the end, that was my birthday, pretty much.

Michiru got (so far, and from what I can remember):

A 12AM call from Cure Black (selphish)!

Aris (geleios) sent me a song!

Heather (kirie_himuro) drew me a picture of Agrias and Ovelia!

Stix (who_reads_this) put together a comic, consisting of doujinshi images, which was mainly about Agrias and Mustadio!

Shanna (diogenesshadow) gave me a Borders giftcard! I think I'll buy the next Suikoden volume with it.

Haruka (satou_sei) got me a T-shirt! It has a picture of a knife, and it says to stick it in your friends! EDIT: "Hey kids! Stick me in your enemies!"

Lyssette (lostsenshi) got an idea to buy Soul Calibur III for me!! And whoever else pays her money. It was a joint gift. AND I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT SOME OTHER TIME. I don't really have time to play, but I did want to know if certain characters play the same.

My family got me this wool pea coat. It's the most beautiful coat, ever.

An icon by Bradf (yesal)! Which is this one I'm using now! WAUGH, LADY CHRIS, WAUGH.

EDIT: Neji's (after_tears) Chikane!!! How could I forget?

Nemo (neonclover) gave me an icon! It matches my layout, my icon with Dadf, too!

Laika (laikaken) gave me a picture of Natsuki and Shizuru!

Halloween. Another time. It wasn't very interesting.

birthday, life
