Obsession: "The Sound of Music"
Okay, so I love "The Sound of Music".
Have you ever been obsessed with something? I have. Many, many times. But my obsession with "The Sound of Music" blows them all away. I've watched this flick more times then I can count. A good 1,000. Probably. And instead of counting every time I watch the film (which would be useless) I've recently decided to collect the film's different releases. So far I have 9 copies of the film (4 on dvd, 4 on vhs and 1 on vcd), three copies of the soundtrack ( 2 cd's, 1 vinyl) and I've even see Julie Andrews & Christopher Plummer at "A Royal Christmas".
I've been 'obsessed' with the film three times in my life and consider it my favorite film of all time. I ran away with it my first time. I remember back then I was 10 and my brother had hid the film from me. Saying I wasn't paying enough attention to him. Which I'm sure was true. I remember I would blow off my friends just to rewatch a film I'd seen countless times before. Then the next time I became obsessed with this flick I was 16 going on 17 and I was in "The Sound of Music" closet, so to speak. I was a bit tom boyish back then so in my mind liking SOM was too girly.
SO I secertly hid my bindges and finally after a year of hiding it I finally came out. And boy did everyone know! I mean everyone! I ran around school passing out my url to my SOM site, carrying around a box filled with SOM pictures and an SOM scrapbook I had created. I almost requested "My favorite things" at my prom and even wore an SOM picture I'd graphied onto a plain t-shirt during my graduation. Yeah I'm a dork and a bit of a geek.
My last obsession had tons upon tons of fanfiction to read for it. I mean I remember sitting at a computer for 6 hours straight reading nothing but new stories I'd never laid eyes on! I loved that! But SOM had none of that. Or really all I could find was plot parodies with characters from different tv shows/movies. And some of them were bizzare combinations. I read one with the characters from Dragon Ball Z, and a whole novel on Gundum Wing! And I found a few (a total of 3) serious SOM fanfictions, in the universe with the characters. I mean I searched high and low up and down! Nothing! So finally I decided that I would have to find some interest to start it myself! I found myself at Vanessa's Sound of Music Forum. Stired up some interest and started this section on fanfiction.net "The Sound of Music" Fanfiction Archive
That was 5 years ago, and now I find myself back into the swing of things! I'm awaiting for "The Sound of Music" on tomarrow night for it's annual Christmas show run.
