Decasia: The State of Decay

What can I say about this 70 minute film? It's not so much a film as it is a symphony of light and sound. Decasia is what you get when you combine decaying film stock and a score composed by Michael Gordon as performed by the Basel Sinfonietta orchestra. This is visual poetry at it's finest, the film uses decaying footage as an analogy for our lives. Everything is temporal and eventually fades away. The music is as haunting as the dying images on the screen, even more so because to further enhance the mood Michael Gordon tried to make it as if  the instruments themselves were decaying like an out of tune piano for instance. There is much more I wish to say about this film but the truth is there isn't anything I can say. Only by watching this film will you truly understand and appreciate it.
