Oh man this vid is SO awesome and I am so, so glad you made it. It's such a great portrait of Roz's character and her journey on trying to be a person even when the show doesn't treat her as such. There's *so* much interesting things and meaning here that I'm sure I'm missing things and will be happy to rewatch this vid lots.
I love how you introed her in that beautiful red light shot, in a quiet reflection of her life which fits the vid so well especially with that "bottom of the mineshaft" where she's at a place has some of the lowest of the low. I really love that shot of her applying makeup intercut with her past sex life with Theon where she's trying to cover up the wounds of the horrible stuff that's happened to her where even the bad stuff of her past life is better than currently. I love her as "ex-communicator, ex-patriot" is her pushing Theon away and happy about leaving to Kings Landing, it's so sad seeing her so happy when I know what's to come. I REALLY love that shot at 0:21 where the woman throws crap out the window in the poor parts of the city which symbolized the way Roz is treated in the world. I really like how you bring in Roz's pain at the baby dying and the horrible pain the people who have to observe the results of the game, with her wondering what it's all for with people like Tywin and Littlefinger sacrificing anyone to win.
I love that for the line "Some folks know how slow that trap closes", you have Roz leaving happily with Littlefinger and then hearing his story about how easily she can be replaced. When the lyrics said "feeling like I found it", it felt to me like you were comparing Shae's experience to feeling like she found love while being just as similar to Roz who was with Tyrion and then got abused in the playing of Tyrion's part of the game. I really love that parallel of Sansa and Roz both getting nice things from the guy they're with, only to then get abused and thrown away. That shot of the longbow on "mine" was sooo beautifully done, just perfect there. And I love how you have "plans that we made" and have her smiles where she feels like she has a shot but then it all comes crashing down in that horrible last shot :(
It is just so great to see a Roz vid that covers so much of her struggle while connecting her to the other characters and using great symbols to help represent her journey. Really interesting to read both HWG and your comments. I think there's truth in both, I think the show did not treat well especially in the beginning but I was happy they did give her more agency even if it wasn't planned. Anyways, thank you again for making it and I love the vid so much!
