So, and I know this is a kinda morbid question but hey, what song (or songs) would you like to have played at your funeral?
The reason I'm thinking about this is cos dad mentioned ages ago that he'd like 'Free Bird' by Lynyrd Skynyrd played at his (not that he's ill or anything, so don't panic!), and the thought just randomly popped into my head this morning. 'Free Bird' is quite a good choice really, very meaningful etc. Possibly doesn't quite mix with dad's other plan, which is to be cremated and put in a firework, but mneh. He'd be flying, I suppose.
Anyway, I got thinking "what would I like people to play at my funeral?". Now, obviously this doesn't take into account music that hasn't been written yet, and who knows? mebbe I'll have some kind of life-changing experience that'll cause me to hate rock music and start loving opera, or westlife :-P So I was wondering, "do I want sad music, or loud and bouncy stuff for people to get ratted to and remember the good times?" Well, in answer, mainly the second, but perhaps 1 or 2 sad songs. Thusly, in no particular order, I give you
TOM'S FUNERAL (or after-funeral party) SONGLIST
'Last Summer' by Lostprophets
'Geordie In Wonderland' by The Wildhearts (I know, I know, I'm not a Geordie, but I love Newcastle and it's people, and it just kinda feels appropriate)
'Friends' by the Backyard Babies
'Going Missing' by Maximo Park
'Tell All Your Friends' by Feeder
There ya go. To be honest, I can probably think of loads more, but mneh, if I sit here thinking about it for too long, it'll depress me!
What else? Well, we have a gig tomorrow night at the Nag's Head in Eastree (wherever the hell that is!) which should be good. Not taking the new van tho, as its not been serviced or insured yet.
Oh, and how could I forget that it's every single person's least favourite day of the year on Tues? lol. Ah well. It wouldnt bug me, except for the fact that it means I'm not going to have anyone to go to the pub with Tues night, as Gem will be with Alex, and Sio and Em will prob be on the phone to their other halves (not that they ever come to the pub anyway, hint hint). So a very dull night for me once I've finished teaching, ra. Also an annoying reminder of the fact that I haven't actually had a g/f in 5 years (because I'm a useless arse) but frankly it means that I'll have more money than my mates after Tues. Or rather, it would do if I actually HAD any money to start with. Ah well! lol
So anyway, I shall now depart, for I have things to work upon. More randomness later!
Hasta luego
