I see you've incorporated that very revealing and insightful part of Ryan's thoughts to Sandy after he was wrongfully accused in "The Aftermath." That was one of the few times he's ever verbalized his feelings about being mislabeled because of his past and so many forces beyond his control. It's equally appropriate here.

I'm glad you also stressed how the cops erred by even taking Ryan, a minor, into custody in that manner. This is one of those times where Ryan's reluctance to engage in conversation definitely worked to his advantage. Trying for just a little entrapment?

Regardless of the outcome, just the fact that Ryan was taken from the campus in full view of administration, teachers and students only adds to any perception of guilt and only adds to the burdens that Ryan carries. Thankfully, Sandy was immediately reachable and adamant in his defense of Ryan while not trying to hide his anger at the manipulations of the police.

Great job at heightening the tension and giving us, and Ryan, the opportunity to see Sandy use his professional expertise, passion for justice and feelings for Ryan to protect him.

Thanks for your comments, as usual.

I always liked that quote and couldn't resist using it here.

Trying for just a little entrapment?

Yup, they were trying, but it didn't work.

Thanks. I love writing Sandy like this. I think this was my favorite scene to write in this whole story.

I've always remembered that quote as well since Ben delivered the line so well that it really hit home, especially combined with the tone of his voice and his body language and expression. Lots of layering going on with so few words.

It was great to read Sandy like this after having him be such a disappointment for so long in canon. This is Sandy at his best when he's most needed. For once, Ryan is getting support despite the best efforts of those amassed against him. I can tell you enjoyed sticking it to them and really digging in with Sandy!
