Things finally seem like they're mellowing down. Everything major that has happened in my life lately, seemed to happen all the same time, or so close to something else that I didn't even have time to register what was going on; let alone separate one thing from the other. Bekah and I have an awesome relationship going. Honestly, it is a little sad that our closest friends can't be happy for us, and choose to be bitter and resentful instead, but it just goes to show who your friends really are.
We get our new roommate very, very soon. Either tomorrow or the next day, in fact. He's a pretty cool guy, around my age and interested in quite a few of the same things. The fact that I don't have to pay over four-hundred dollars in rent is exciting enough on its own, though. So I may be able to save up enough money for school next semester. Yay. On the note of poverty, though, it has never really been so rough. I mean, I remember when I didn't have much money at all when I first came to Albuquerque, but I also didn't have half the bills. Now I have the bills, and still no money, which makes the struggle even more so. Ah well, fuck money. I never have and never will need a full bank account just to be happy with me and my life.
I'm really concerned for a couple of my friends. One of which is clinically depressed, and is going through some serious issues since he got discharged from the army. He's doing a lot of crazy and harmful things, and not listening to anyone. Sadly, he's not the first of my friends to do such a thing, and I'm sure he won't be the last. Getting through is always the hardest part. Telling him he's doing the wrong thing doesn't work because he already knows, and thinks he's worthless anyhow. I wish he'd move up to Albuquerque and get out of the self-made prison he's put himself in. Maybe with more friends around (and less alcohol) he'd remember what it used to be like. Who knows...it's something only he can change within himself, though. As for the other friend, he's off in another city going through college with no friends, living a very unhealthily lonely lifestyle. He's a great guy, always able to keep a straight head, so I hope he can do so in this situation as well, and not succumb to peer pressure, or change himself just to make more friends. I love him the way he is.
Music has been my sanctum for sanity lately. Real life has been way to hectic to even process mentally, and to make it worse, I've been sick for the past few days, and not able to function on a normal level at work or with friends. The only place I seem complete, and crystal clear is when I'm transcending through the notes that escape the strings of my guitar. Inspiration is a steady stream, and the progressive-yet-catchy melodies and chords I'm making are even blowing me away. I can't believe what's coming out of my head, and it's amazing. =) Also, I just found out Radiohead is coming out with a new LP! I thought they had dismembered, but they are apparently still together, and still making awesome music. I can't wait.
Life has changed as a whole in a lot of ways, lately. All the change definitely gives some perspective on the past that was not available before; hindsight is 20-20. I was a little scared at first of how tremendous this particular current of change was, but I find myself more and more pleased with the direction things have taken.
I guess that's what life is all about: riding the wave and taking what you can with you along the way.
