*It's an idle comment, perhaps.*

Perhaps.

"I weren't here that night", he reminds her.

I know, *Meg explains.* I mean, since you and Susan and everyone went away for those nights -

Sheemie nods.

"It were only one night, for us. Time... slipped."

It's been doing that a lot lately.

[balletrat]

Time's tricky, *Meg says, a little ruefully.*

"Face on the water", he agrees.

[balletrat]

- you know, *Meg says, with a flash of a smile,* I never really got that expression . . .

[pink_sombrera]

"It's - " He tries to think of the words. "If'ee see something on the water, a reflection, it... it changes, do'ee ken?"

[balletrat]

Well, yeah, *Meg agrees,* I mean, I get the whole water-distortion bit, it's just - why a face?

You get a mental image of this guy with a moustache sticking his tongue out, or something -

Sheemie starts to shrug, then hears the last part, stares at her, and begins to laugh.
