Caspian's getting near the end of Richard II, and the look of bemusement on his face has only been getting steadily more bemused, and every now and again he laughs, a bit, and takes a sip of tea.

Apparently English royalty amuses him.

It's good to hear Caspian laugh, really.

"Did you find something amusing to read?" Amy asks, watching him with a rather amused expresion herself.

"Richard," Caspian says decisively, "is an idiot. And he talks too much."

He grins at her.

"Care to join me?"

Of course she'll join him, and she does.

"Who is Richard and what does he talk about?"

"He's the king in this play and he talks about everything far too much. Hullo, Amy, how've you been?"

It's the sound of the laughter that draws her attention, and Susan looks up from her delicate braidwork. Her glance drifts across the door--

(the peace of the clearing)

--before finding him, and oh, but she smiles, and then lifts one hand in a wave.

Aye, Caspian laughs less these days, but at times he's as merry as ever.

Apparently Shakespeare has this effect.

At any rate, he looks up, and smiles cheerfully at her, before closing his admittedly rather hefty book and coming over, book in one hand, tea in the other.

"Hullo, Susan. What's that you're working on?"

"It's-- it's a bracelet," she tells him.

If he looks closely, he'll notice it's a very delicate, multistranded plait of thin leather cord and what looks like golden rope at first glance.

"It's to be a gift." A soft smile, then. "How do'ee fare, Caspian?"

He does looks closely, as he seats himself, putting the book down and pushing it out of the way.

"It's lovely, Su. Someone will love it, I'm sure, and all the more for having come from you."

His smile is very fond.

"I'm doing well enough, thank you. Helped Mal out with his new horse the other day. How are you, Susan?"

He might be able to answer that for himself. She looks--not quite real, almost. The way Lucy often did in the white light of the Last Sea.

"Idiot, rather, wasn't he?"

Peter sits down next to Caspian, tea in hand.

"Massively so."

He looks incredulously back at the book, and shakes his head.

"Does the man ever stop talking?"

"Eventually, yes," Peter says, doing his very best mysterious face.

"Eventually?"

Caspian grins. "I could make a guess as to what I would think happens to him, but perhaps that would be uncharitable."
