Cuthbert approaches. It's possible he's been keeping an eye out for Sheemie, since last night.

"Hey, Sheemie."

Sheemie glances up and smiles, because it's Cuthbert and Cuthbert always gets a smile.

"Long days and pleasant nights."

Cuthbert settles next to him, returning the smile.

"How do'ee fare?"

He doesn't ask more directly about Susan and Peter, yet, but the thought is there.

"Well enough, so I do." It's a stock answer, but not really untrue as far as it goes. If he "hears" the thought about Susan and Peter, he doesn't answer it. "And thee?"

"Alright." Cuthbert looks over at him, the slight smile fading.

"Susan told me she found thee speaking to sai Peter, yesterday."

Sheemie's own smile fades.

"Aye. We... talked."

[key_youth_bert]

Cuthbert lays one hand on Sheemie's arm.

Gently, "Would'ee speak of it, mayhap? If not, I won't press thee."

Sheemie's voice is low and unhappy when he speaks.

"I'd not hurt them so. We'd not. He doesn't understand."

[key_youth_bert]

"I know, Sheemie."

Cuthbert's tone is far gentler than it would be, were he discussing this with Peter.

"He's troubled by it, I wot. That can make it hard to see clearly."

Sheemie nods unhappily. "We tried, so we did..."

[key_youth_bert]

Cuthbert shakes his head.

"Mayhap no one can make him see it, if he won't. Though I hope he can, for Caspian and Lilly's sake."

"Aye. As I do."
