Illyria is in the bar, in a booth, with a bunch of tiny metal rings spread out in front of her.

At the suggestion of Cass the book on medieval weaponry she read a while back, she's linking the rings together to make things out of chainmail. She's not really so interested in it as armor, as her own serves her quite well, but the patterns made by ( Read more... )

Cywyllog is standing a little off to the side, watching her with interest. "What will you be doing with those?"

"Nothing in particular. This amuses me. I wished to see how such things worked, if they were advisable. This thing was created after my time."

She looks up, only barely.

"It should be of little interest to you, I would think."

"Oh? Because I do not wish to learn to fight?"

Illyria only nods, coolly, in reply.

"I will never understand your reasoning for choosing so, especially given your association with our mutual acquaintance. He can be dangerous, you know. Do you really think he will never turn on you?"

"Montparnasse?" She shrugs. "He would have, yes. I had no doubt of that, however, I no longer associate with him so I do not consider it to be a problem any longer."

Illyria blinks.

"You do not?"

She frowns, slightly.

"He had not informed me of that. He mentioned that you had a disagreement, only. Is it nothing that may be resolved?"

She doesn't care, exactly, but she does make a habit of assuming such things are her business.

"I am surprised he mentioned it at all." She replies, drily. "He has made it more than clear that he does not wish for my company and so I have finally decided to oblige him."

"I did not think that--" Illyria stops abruptly. What am I doing?

"Montparnasse is, as I am sure you are aware, a difficult individual to get along with at times. If I paid heed to every instance in which he behaved in ways that were offputting, I would never associate with him at all, and I believe that would be counter to his wishes as well as my own, though one would have a difficult time getting either of us to communicate said wishes."

She speaks very carefully and precisely, unsure of why she's speaking at all.

"Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to guess what he truly wishes, nor do I desire to. I can only interpret how I am treated." Another shrug and she sits in the opposite chair. "I honestly do not think I have been or will be missed."

"I cannot speak for him, and I cannot say that I approved entirely of your association with him." Illyria begins, still cool and precise.

"But I believe that he found your company enjoyable. He told me that he cared for you, and he has no reason to lie to me. I do not encourage such attachments, but I have promised not to deny those he forms with others. I do not believe that he forms attachments lightly."

She glares at the other woman, just a tiny bit.

"It is not my place to care, nor do I, but my opinion is that you should be patient with him."

"I believe I have been patient. Contrary to the opinions of others, however, I will not accept continued mistreatment from those who have no right to do so."

She sighs.

"I do not see how either of us will benefit from further association with each other. Perhaps he does tell you things he does not tell me. Unfortunately, I am the one who needs to hear them. Unless he decides to inform me that my friendship is valuable to him, I have no wish to continue our acquaintance."

"As you wish." Illyria replies. A part of her is rather relieved, but she is frowning, regardless.

"In that case, I have no further use for your acquaintance, either."

With that, she goes back to her work, paying no heed to the human princess's reaction.

She stands and takes a few steps before stopping and regarding Illyria again.

"Rather than being unconcerned with his attachments to others, it might be an idea to start concerning yourself with your own attachment to him, instead of continuing to try and convince yourself you have none."

With that, she leaves the goddess to her project.
