She's claimed the comfy seat again, and is staring at the fire with an expression that, were he here, the Doctor would take one look at and promptly start causing his own brand of chaos, just to keep her busy.
Ace, in a word, is bored.

*Theres a Tim staring out the front door. He opens it, looks inside, then closes it again, to lean against the doorjam.*

Taptaptaptap...taptap...taptaptap...

Ace stops her hand when she hears the front door close, and looks over. Seeing a Tim, she shoots him a quizzical look.

*Tim takes a deep breath, and opens the door again. He peers out it, muttering under his breath, then slams it shut, eyes still staring at where the door was open.*

Ace cannot resist a mystery for long. Especially when she's just about ready to climb the walls. Aces don't do well when confined.
She wanders over, curiosity overcoming caution with a frightening ease.
"Whatcha doing?"

*Tim jumps, shocked by her words. He wasn't paying attention. When his heart returns to normal speed, he glares at his girlfriend.*

Nothing. Looking. Everything. I dunno.

Two glare-y people in one day. Ace gives him a frown back.
"Well, if you don't want me around, say so." Her temper's somewhat frayed, what with the whole 'Good God, but I'm tired of looking at these same four walls' going on.

*Tim sighs, sliding down to the floor.*

I think something is out there.

Ace blinks at him.
"Yes.... there's a lot of things out there, up to and including really butt-ugly monsters. One of them is missing an eye, and I'm hoping he doesn't come back for a replacement."

*Tim shakes his head, trying to get it out clear.*

"Okay..." Ace feels like she's playing twenty questions. "Is it a good something or a bad something?"

*He thinks back, trying to place this feeling. His face drains slightly, paling, and his eyes geta hunted haunted look.*

"Hey. Hey!" Ace kneels down in front of him and grabs his hands to get his attention. "No going away. We'll just blast the bloody thing, yeah?" Maybe not the best suggestion ever, but it works for her most times.

*Tim stares at her, but it's like he's staring through her, staring back into the past, into the things he's seen, and, more importantly, the battles he's fought.*

"M'sure the Doctor would appreciate the sentiment, but sometimes that's the only thing for it." Ace is a practical gal. And none too squeamish when it comes down to a choice between them and us. That is what nitro is for.
"Hey." She doesn't like that distant look one little bit. It rather scares her. "Hey, we're here now. We've got time to plan. Relax, yeah?" Her hands tighten on his.

*Tim is tense as a board, and doesn't seem in any way eager to lose that.*

*And realization hits Tim. So he wasn't it. There was one. His eyes light up.*
