She does so, setting her bag down and pulling two things out--a smaller bag, which she sets on the table, and a dragon, which she sets on her lap. "This is for you. Because. Well. You were nice. And I haven't really had a lot of nice since Wing...well. So, this is for you."
The dragon hiccups in his sleep and shoots a tiny poof of fire through Kitty. She isn't bothered. "Thank you. I--I haven't," and she looks down, blinking. "I haven't been doing so well. And everything at the institute is awful right now, and I needed, you know. Niceness."
She's not quite crying. "He was my student. I was supposed to keep him safe. And I should have known that he was going to do that. If I lost my powers, I'd be upset, too. But I didn't think and now he's dead and who in their right mind would make me a teacher?"
