Jack is out at the firing range, taking some shots at a dummy.  It's not so much that he feels the practice actually serves a useful purpose, as he doubts that whatever's going on in the bar will actually end in a firefight, though with the weird shit happening in the bar anything's possible.  It's more that it's something to keep him busy, ( Read more... )

There's a blonde standing at the partition beside Jack's, watching him shoot, and seeming vaguely impressed by his abilities. She's got a service revolver of her own, and has been shooting well - though not perfectly straight.

Lassiter would be impressed by this man, she thinks, but actually says, in the space between blasts, "wow. How long have you been shooting?"

"More than 25 years," he says, clicking the safety back on and holstering his weapon. "I used to work in law enforcement. How about you?"

Jules follows suit - she's running out of ammo, anyway. "I am in law enforcement." She holds out her hand with a smile. "Detective Juliet O'Hara."

Jack shakes her hand. It might be a little more dim outside with the strange, red sky, but he doesn't break his habit of tilting the back of his right hand toward the ground as he shakes so that the scarring isn't as obvious.

"Jack Bauer," he says with a slight, polite smile. "You're not a bad shot yourself."

Jules doesn't find all of that - interesting, but not alarming. "I should be - I've been on the force for seven years now." This is delivered with a shrug, apple-pie sincerity and a smile - Jules is no braggart, at heart.

Jack tilts his head slightly, almsot like a dog that's just heard the rustling of a squirrel in the underbrush.

"A sniper? Was he going after specific targets, or more random ones?"
