"No, it ain't right. I heard tell there's a helluva crater out that way," he nods his head off towards the woods. "I ain't seen it myself, but I've heard talk."
Doc has his hands tucked deep into the pockets of his duster to ward off the bitter chill.
"Sky reminds me of the day we lost John. The clouds...not the...red colorin'."
He notices the smile on Billy's face, but he doesn't comment. Part of him is still set on getting out and away from the life of being an outlaw, and if he hears about what Billy's been up to, it might be harder to resist the pull of the desert.
"Reminds me too much'a the end times in the Bible for my likin'. But...if there's gonna be some sorta fight or some such...I might rather stay'n try to help."
Not yet, anyway. If it does become a major worry -- if things start to go south in a hurry -- Doc will consider a massive evacuation of the stock out of the bar.
The horse looks agitated, eyes and ears everywhere in between receiving pieces of apple.
Billy looks disquieted.
"Don't look right, does it?"

Turning his gaze up to the sky, the feels the cold press in and thinks of that New Year's day morning.
"There's some kind of storm comin', alright. It been like this for long?"

He finishes with the apple, and brushes his hand off on his thigh.
"Looks like I chose a good time to wander back in."
Cleaning the knife blade, and putting it away, Billy looks over Doc.
"How you been, Doc?"

He doesn't bother to unglove his hands to reach for his cigarettes. The smoke will at least warm the air going into his lungs.
"How 'bout yourself, Kid?"

Billy leaned back to do a better appraisal of Doc, then shrugged a shoulder.
"Drifting. Not much to keep occupied with lately, so I've just been making a rounds of the territory. Gettin' by as I can."
A slight glimmer lights his eyes and smile, but if he's not bragging now, he's not likely to say much more if asked.

Billy's not sure how much he believes that, but Doc ain't dead, so that's what's most important.
Hopping down off of the fence, Billy looks towards the Bar, then back at Doc.
"Well, Doc, I gotta say, with the condition of this place, don't it seem like it might be time to skin out?"

Doc turns and looks over the snow and ice covered pastures.
"I...I dunno, Billy. I ain't sure just what this place s'gonna do, yet."

As if on cue, Lawman snorts and paws the ground with a hoof.
"And I was here to see that sun come up red."

The change in scenery was unexpected, the state of the place even more so.
"You sure? Lot of nice ponies back there won't be missed if this place ends."
