Amy has been coming to Milliways for a while now.

She can remember when the lake had not yet met the ocean, when there were neither mountains nor a baseball diamond, when you had to take care not to wander out of the woods and into the Dreaming.

She has seen friends transformed, attacked, enchanted, and with no idea of their own identity.

She has stepped through the door into other worlds.

She met angels and gods and Death himself, here. More importantly, at least to her, she met her husband and her brother here.

She survived a demon bunny attack. She witnessed the destruction caused by earlier groundquakes. She danced at a ball that had to be relocated to avoid scorched earth and wild magic. She waited for news when the Black Pearl was pulled beneath the surface of the lake with its passengers. And she was here for the incredibly improbable defeat of a witch via domicile.

So when she steps into the bar this evening, she is both surprised and not quite surprised to see the state of things. It's Milliways, after all. Things happen at the end of the universe, the best of things and worst of things, both.

Amy makes her way to the stables to check on Dar and Kiseki, and having satisfied herself that they are all right, continues out and around the lake, past the Hope and on till she reaches the edge of the woods.

And then Amy gathers up her skirts in a way she has not done in years, and climbs one of the trees. She settles onto a sturdy branch, and sits for a while, fingers wrapped around the dreamcatcher necklace she still wears every day.

She keeps a weather eye on the red, red sky.
