Marian's coming out from The Dogs Playing Poker, when she spots a familiar, not all that long ago for her, person ducking out the Back Door, headed in a determined manner.
It's too far and too many people to shout across, properly, and since she hadn't any plans past getting some tea, she decides to follow out the back Door, once crossing the room, instead.
"Good evening, Queen Amy." And if the words are formal, perhaps, it is something about Marian's amused, calm smile. That betrays more something along the lines of being relieved and quite pleased to see that her assumption of that headed person was correct all along.
"Good." It was true enough, here, in Milliways, wasn't it? "Happy to be done with taking care of most of the affairs that seem to have passed me between here and home. Have you been well?"
"Busy. I've spent most of today talking about the celebration for my birthday and wishing I could just spend it with Perry and the children, out in the Forest.
Even if it isn't under the best circumstances. Marian has learned the greater worth of even lesser having since the start of 'her appropriation' by the Sheriff not long ago.
"Not as of yet, no. Only your Susan, and while ago, for even the one." From a night that had seemed very trying for the young girl. "How are there all?"
Marian can't help but smile. Remembering the little girl, the few times she'd seen her, and picturing her, now, followed by this cadre of young brothers. And the namesake. Of course, how could that ever not be noted.
A soft ache, present, but not so terrible as it had once been.

It's not that she has any reservations about the care they're receiving, but she still wants to look in.

"But, such things are not to be."

"Well, almost every day.
"But it's never as much as I'd like.
"I don't think you've met the twins yet, have you?"

"And then Merriman -- Merry, we call him -- our oldest boy.
"And then the twins, not even a year yet. Laurence -- Laurie -- and Caspian.
"All healthy and well, thank God.
"And giving poor Nurse Marta even more grey hair than their mother managed."

"They sound like quite a handful, and blessing."
Reply
"But, yes, definitely a handful."
Fortunately, Amy has a lot of other hands to help her out.

"And this birthday celebration you have come from planning? Is it soon, and something happy, as well?"
Reply
"It will be happy, and very grand, and rather tiring.
"There will be a parade and a reception and dinner and a ball, and they expect me at all of them."

Marian leaned her shoulder lightly against the stall.
"What will you do that you will love best for yourself in it?"
Reply
"We'll find our few hours with the childen and no one else around for my birthday, but not that day."
It's all right.
Amy's celebrations don't really belong to Amy.
