Cy is curious. Organic technology...like something out of that show with a living ship and the grumpy cosmonaut. And an interdimensional chat client. How would that even work?
He has to know more!
"Hey, you're Karkat?" He of course pronounces it Car-Cat.
"Tell me about this chat client you're offering." Cy's not good with software. Well, not that good compared to some. But he's eager to learn. "It will ready work across the doors?"
He shrugs. "PROBABLY, I DON'T KNOW. I WOULDN'T BET YOUR LIFE ON IT YET. THIS IS KIND OF AN OPEN BETA SO I CAN SEE HOW IT WORKS OUT, I DID A SMALL TEST RUN WITH SOME PONIES AND I HAVEN'T HEARD ANY COMPLAINTS YET."
"I GAVE THEM TO SOME TALKING PONIES, I AM NOT A MORON. WHAT POSSIBLE POINT--"
He cuts himself off. Best behavior. "THE SOFTWARE IS DESIGNED FOR TRANSTIMELINE AND INTERDIMENSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS, I JUST SET UP A RELAY HERE AND PARED OUT A BUNCH OF FEATURES THAT AREN'T COMPATIBLE WITH THE FUCKED UP SPACE TIME AROUND HERE. IT SHOULD WORK UNLESS THE BAR DOESN'T WANT IT TO, THAT'S THE BEST I CAN SAY."
"And there's no way to patch it into my electronics, right?" He hasn't needed a handheld for much in a long time. Though he still likes to have his Titans communicator as one, just because everyone else does.
He takes one from a pocket in his cargo pants; no point in captchaloging them and having to keep finding the cards. "THIS IS A SAMPLE, YOU CAN GET A FRESH ONE FROM THE BAR."
It's grey, about the size and shape of an iPod, with scalloped edges; the texture of the back is porcelain, like a seashell. There's a flexible nod of green slime set in the back. The display surface is... fleshy.
"This is...different." The polar opposite of his many metal and plastic parts. He wonders how it would be to have organic tech replacements. And figures that would be too weird. "Keypad or touchscreen?"
"TOUCHSCREEN, IT IS A STANDARD 3D GHOST SETUP, YOU CAN ADJUST THE TRANSPARENCY TO WHATEVER YOUR CYBORG FOCAL LENGTH IS I GUESS." He demonstrates, holding it landscape-style, the keyboard layout ghosting over the main display when he lays his thumbs over it. It is literally hovering just faintly above the surface of the screen.

"IT GENERATES ONE AUTOMATICALLY WHEN YOU SET IT UP, THAT ONE IS MINE, THOUGH. I GAVE ONE TO THE BAR SO IT CAN DISPENSE THEM."
