Tumnus normally enjoys Autumn, the trees around his home turn glorious colors and Narnia is full of harvest celebrations. On this night though a nightmare woke him by combining old horrors of his father's arrest and his own captivity

"Tea goes so well with a fireplace," says a lady who is sitting with her own pot of tea not far away.

[friend_of_lucy]

"Oh, yes it does and this is quite good tea,"

He looks up with a smile for her though he looks tired.

[margolotta]

She smiles.

"Yes, they serve good things here," she says. "A wonderful place to relax from all the duties and worries of one's world."

[friend_of_lucy]

"Do you have many worries?" She looks rather content.

[margolotta]

"Oh, no end of them," she says. "But I can't let them eat me. And things have been working out quite nicely lately. It is wonderful to see young people one mentored come into their own."

[friend_of_lucy]

"Yes, it is. Young people eager to learn are a gift."

[margolotta]

"Oh yes -- and that one has been a very special gift," she says.

[friend_of_lucy]

"Might I ask what that gift is?"

[margolotta]

"He is a savant," she says, "and can learn about absolutely anything whatsoever in a very, very short time. Of course, you can't learn how to deal with people, that way, so I sent him to the big city to acquire people skills. He aquired more knowledge as well, but that goes without saying. For somebody who bascially defines 'socially awkward', he has been doing brilliantly. Even got a very impressive girlfriend."

[friend_of_lucy]

"He sounds like a fascinating person to know. Though wouldn't it be hard to learn how to do something well if you learn it quickly?"

[margolotta]

"He pays great attention to detail," Margolotta says, "just a lot faster. He does everything as correctly as humanly" -- or rather, orcishly -- "possible."

[friend_of_lucy]

"Is he a human?"

[margolotta]

"No," Margolotta says. "Actually, he's an orc. A species deemed very, very dangerous and evil and good only for killing as many of as possible. I found him as a scrawny youngster, chained to a smith's anvil. Education and trust turned him into the genius he is. Trust is important -- only if you invest trust can you get any results out of anybody."

[friend_of_lucy]

"Yes, trust can save a world,"

Lucy's trust him was why he didn't turn her over to the Witch.

[margolotta]

"Yes," Margolotta says. "You are a wise man -- creature -- to know that. Well, from my experience, I know that what seems to be 'creatures' is very much people, too. Enough 'good' people would call me a creature, too, and not just poor Mr. Nutt, the long-underestimated orc."

"I'm a Faun from Narnia and my name is Tumnus. Yes, there are few humans in Narnia and people here always seem rather confused by me. I have seen the power of trust and love and how it helped Narnia."
