EP | Kate Barlow | Outside/Main Bar

Sep 30, 2011 18:00

It's evening by Kate's watch, and just about time to head in from her chores outside. She hasn't been particularly loud as of late. Though her good mood from the last time she was in the bar hasn't dissipated, she has had a lot on her mind lately. So, she's kept to a routine: out in the stables every morning and evening, reading by the fire in ( Read more... )

Urquhart has been watering plants in the garden, late roses and asters and the herbs.

When he hears the shots, he puts down the watering can and runs towards the noise, cocking the crossbow as he runs.

What he'll find when he arrives is one wild-eyed cowgirl, hooting with surprise.

"Golly, they really do go up in smoke!"

Except, now there seems to be more of them coming. Oh dear. Forgive her if she doesn't notice you right away, Urquhart.

She will probably notice that some of them start going down with crossbow bolts in their eyes?

Or the white dog with brown spots who just attacks outright, racing into the group of attacking bunnies, snarling and barking?

That she does notice.

"...Evenin', Mr. Urquhart!"

All things considered, she sounds rather chipper for someone who just blew the head off a bunny.

William's seen Kate around as he's stayed in the Bar after helping Ellen and when he hears the shots gets his rifle.

When he sees the bunnies, he lines up a shot and takes one down, "How long have they been here?"

"William, be careful!"

She nods towards a half dozen bunnies hopping to his right.

"I noticed 'em when I stepped out of the stables, an' - "

Bang! Another one goes up in smoke.

"I'm not the type t'start fights with bunny rabbits, but they started it."

He fires a shot into the midst of the bunnies to his right and they scatter,

"I'm sure they did. Well, we won't let them hem us in."

"They was blockin' the path. An' hangin' 'round the back paddocks."

A bunny latches onto her boot. She gives a few swift kicks to jar him, and then slips out her Smith & Wesson. She almost catches on fire when he goes up with a bang.

"Y'don't think they'd get after the horses, do you?"

Kate's a sight to smile at, if not laugh outright. Her hair is in wild disarray and her pants are singed. There's a bit of dirt marring her rosy cheeks, and she is grinning.

Even if she's out of bullets.

Her first goal is to get to the Bar and fix just that, but she notices Finvarra while on her way and pauses. She still feels that deep pull to curtsy in his presence, but as he's told her not to do so she merely waves, and inclines her head, and continues on to get her things.

"Had an interestin' one, at least."

She pulls her handkerchief from her pocket to dab at her brow, only  -  well. It's half a handkerchief, now. And smoking ever so slightly.

"Any time I leave still walkin' is a good one."

There's an elf at the Bar. An elf about to leave actually. When he sees Kate, he pauses, looking a little bit concerned. Hair shouldn't look like that. Or smell like that for that matter.

"Are you all right?"

Kate's hair has looked - and, particularly, smelled - worse in the past. But it's a definite change from the care she usually takes with it.

"I think so."

She's a touch breathless, but she's smiling. She runs a hand through her singed locks.

"I had a  -  disagreement. With somma the wildlife here."

"Not a dragon I hope," he says, sounding a little bit concerned. They're the only ones he can think of that would leave one - singed.

Her hand pauses halfway through her mane.

"We do have a dragon here. A rather nice one, coincidentally."

Kate wasn't eaten, so that definitely lends tics to the 'nice' column.

"But, no. There're these  -  this'll sound ridiculous. These bunny rabbits. They call 'em 'demon bunnies'. For a reason, I now see."

He asks and then downs his drink if's seeing things he should be thoroughly soused for this.

"I think this is the result of more'n just an antiscorbutic diet!"

There's a pair of bunnies preparing to clothesline her from behind.

A little help?
