Ed comes in from the grounds with a small sack of carefully selected autumn leaves. The majority of them are entirely red, yellow, or orange: some are still spotted with a bit of green

It's the number of leaves that captivates Clementine's attention. They're gorgeous, and serve to remind her that in Nevada the trees rarely turn. "Well, aren't those pretty?" she asks rhetorically.

"Ed is pretty!" Ed says, adjusting a yellow leaf in her hair. "Here! Have pretty leaves!" She shoves a small pile in Clementine's direction.

"You sure are," she laughs gently. Clementine starts picking over the leaves with mild interest. "These're nice - where did you get 'em from?"

"Trees!" Ed says. "Outside!" she adds.

Ein barks. He helped!

The trees aren't in full fall-colors mode just yet, but there's some pretty nice leaves out there if you're willing to do a bit of climbing to get them.

Aww, thinks Clem. She never got to experience fall - or even trees that change colors.

She tucks a gold-tinged one behind her ear and holds out her hand for Ein to sniff. "Are you gonna put them all in your hair or are you gonna make something else with them?"

"Maybe!" says Ed. "But Ed was planning to give the spare ones to other peoples."

See? Ed is generous with her leaves.

"Aww, well - that's nice," she declares. "Can I keep this one?"

She might end up having to use it as proof of Milliways' existence when she gets back to Reno.

"Ed likes to share leaves!" Ed says. Clementine can take that as a yes. Probably.

She smiles. "Well, thank you very much!" She chuckles. And then she gently pets Ein. "And thank you, too, faithful leaf-gathering pup."

Clem reaches out to gently scritch the pup under his chin. "How did you get him?" she asks Ed.

[shoeless_ed]

"Ein was on BeBop with Jet-person and Spike-person and Faye-Faye and then Ed was on BeBop, and Ein became her best friend-who-is-a-dog."

Ed doesn't really think of Ein as a pet, which is probably a good thing because he doesn't think of himself that way either.

That's a lot of names, but one sticks out. "What's BeBop?" Clementine asks, and very carefully rests her hand on Ein's back.

"It's a spaceship!" says Ed. "Jet-person's spaceship! We were all bounty hunters! We didn't catch a lot of bounties but it was fun. Except that Ed was hungry a lot."

[hey35nholding]

Clementine's impressed. "So you all live in space?" The notion of a little girl and pup bounty hunting team is making her smile. "Is bar doing her job and feeding you good?"

[shoeless_ed]

"No, no, Ed and Ein do not live in space anymore. We live here now! It's nice. There are lots of fun people and things and Ed gets lots of food."

"Arf!"

"So does Ein."
