It's the number of leaves that captivates Clementine's attention. They're gorgeous, and serve to remind her that in Nevada the trees rarely turn. "Well, aren't those pretty?" she asks rhetorically.
The trees aren't in full fall-colors mode just yet, but there's some pretty nice leaves out there if you're willing to do a bit of climbing to get them.
Aww, thinks Clem. She never got to experience fall - or even trees that change colors.
She tucks a gold-tinged one behind her ear and holds out her hand for Ein to sniff. "Are you gonna put them all in your hair or are you gonna make something else with them?"
"It's a spaceship!" says Ed. "Jet-person's spaceship! We were all bounty hunters! We didn't catch a lot of bounties but it was fun. Except that Ed was hungry a lot."
Clementine's impressed. "So you all live in space?" The notion of a little girl and pup bounty hunting team is making her smile. "Is bar doing her job and feeding you good?"

Ed doesn't really think of Ein as a pet, which is probably a good thing because he doesn't think of himself that way either.
