[oom : after being chased out of Milliways, ███████ finds another way home]Pushing a cart full of metal bars through the bar is full of inconveniences, but, all the same, that was what ███████ was doing earlier. It was better than the alternative, which was taking multiple trips bringing in weapons which do not stack well through the bar. And who ( Read more... )

Apollo's not far behind her, having gotten her note from Bar.
He leans in the doorway and says, "So which name do you prefer?"

She pauses what she is doing. "Which name?" That's an interesting question. "You must be Apollo."

"Amascut, but you should be careful about using that name around mortals. They tend to forget it."

"So you leave it on a note when you don't know whether the person reading it can handle it?" He's not really trying to needle her; after all, he's done worse, in the past.
"That I am. You said you had questions about the hot dog menace?"

"The hot dog menace?" She chuckles at the name. "Well, I suppose I don't have a better name for it. What do you know about it?"

"Packaging turned up the other night," he says. "That was the first I head of it. There was a customer service hotline, so I wrangled a phone from the Lost and Found box into working for a few minutes. The guy on the other end said there's an alpha hot dog somewhere around here that'd best be stopped by the full moon, and it's vulnerable to silver skewers."
...Yeah, it sounds weird to him too.

Whoa whoa whoa, slow down there.

"Hotline? Phone?"

That look on her face? It says explain plz.

"You don't want to know what a customer service hotline is. A phone is a way to communicate over long distances, but they generally don't work here - the one I used burned out not long after the 'stop this by the full moon' part." Literally burned out, too.
"Said full moon is Monday around here, it seems."

"So, like the werewolves here." Not like the werewolves at home. Nothing like the werewolves at home. "Then the rash and tufts of hair are due to people being being turned?"

Turned to what, though?

"Exactly like the werewolves, but with hot dogs."
Apollo nods. "Turned into what, I have no idea, but the one victim I've talked to said he's hearing voices as part of this. Maybe that's the alpha?"
Totally a shot in the dark there, but... well, he doesn't know what else it would be.

"Voices... Well that would certainly explain why my chinchompas turned against me after eating that hotdog. And why I could taste something whenever those hotdogs bit me." Oh, yes, she has been bitten. Multiple times. "An alpha?"

"That's what the guy said. I mean, this even tops some of my dad's exploits, and he's done a lot of messed-up stuff in the name of getting laid."

"Who exactly are you, again?" She means what more than who. Something very old at least.

"Greek pantheon, Earth. Most Earths I'm aware of, anyway. Dad runs the show, in a manner of speaking."

"Menaphite pantheon, Gielinor. My father also heads the pantheon, but, foreign gods complicate matters."

"Death, destruction, formerly rebirth." Might as well be honest. "How about yourself?"

Hey, he can handle working with a death goddess. His uncle's domain semi-overlaps, and Hades isn't too bad when he's not stroppy. (Unfortunately, he's stroppy a lot.)
"Poetry, music, the arts, healing, prophecy, archery, Romans threw the sun into the deal..." He shrugs. "Lots of things."

"Archery. That could be useful." One track mind, sometimes. Speaking of which, "Besides getting the voices to stop, will anything happen if we kill the alpha?"

Yes, we. You just got volunteered to a sausage hunting party.

One track mind, mind you.
