There is a mermaid in the shallow waters by the rocks, quite close to the back door of the bar. She is flitting about among the sunlit wavelets, and watching people come and go.
Thalia sits at the back door watching. She's dressed in a Misfits tshirt and ripped jeans today with no visible weapons though there is that big silver bracelet on her left arm.
She tries not to stare at the mermaid but her eyes continue to drift her way.
Thalia kind of smiles back (it's more of a wince) and pulls a battered paperback out of her back pocket to start reading. Depending on how good the mermaid's sight is, and if she can read Greek, she might notice the book is The Odyssey.
Impatient at the best of times Thalia a stands and wanders over. Annabeth will get there when she does and Thalia can handle talking right?
She marks her place with a finger in the book but lifts it to show it's title. Then in a friendly enough voice asks, "Are you anything like the sirens?" She tries for curious and fascinated as well as friendly. How successful she is can be debated but she has no reason for outright hostility right?
"Ah," Thalia replies stepping closer. It's weird talking with the monster seeing as how they usually just attack. She's not quite sure what to do or say. "I am Thalia, daughter of Zeus."
"That there certainly are. Have you only been here or have you been inside yet?" she asks with a gesture to the bar. She's finding it easy to be at least a little friendly though her guard is still up, friendly monsters are the most dangerous ones.

She somersaults in the water and splashes the lake's surface with her tail fin as she does so.
