The idea of sticking candles in things other than cake wasn't commonplace in Annabelle's day. That might be why her first thought when Bar gives her a small stack of pancakes with 30 lit candles shoved in it isn't 'Oh, it must be my birthday', but 'Why is my breakfast on fire?'
