Mermaid by the lakeshore, around moonrise

Jul 18, 2011 21:30

Tamara the mermaid is back.

She is sitting on a stone in the moonlight, her tail fin in the water, and singing to herself in a beautiful eerie voice.

She has promised to not kill and eat any patrons here, but nobody said she can't toy with them and tease them.

William can hear her singing and is leaning on the inside of the paddock fence listening to her.

If he stays on this side of the fence then he won't go farther and the horses out here will distract him, he just wants to hear her sing.

She is singing about a young maid searching for her sailor lover, who is dead.

Its a beautiful song and not one he knows so he keeps listening as one of the horses comes over to see what he's doing.

When she finishes her song, she turns around to smile at him across the distance, her eyes innocent and inhuman at the same time.

"Your turn!" she calls, a giggle in her voice.

It's been a long time since Holmes has taken his reprieve in the Bar, and rather than set himself up in his favorite chair (which is inconveniently occupied, as fate would have it), he chooses to take his pipe outdoors, walking down to the lake in the moonlight.

Smoke forms a small cloud around his head as he puffs idly before dissipating into the night air.

If he's spotted the woman sitting on the stone, he hasn't made a point of noting it out loud, or allowed it to impact his demeanor. Truthfully, his mind is occupied elsewhere, on thoughts of a recent request made by Lord Henry Blackwood.

She is singing songs about dead sailors, in an eerily beautiful voice.

After a moment, he's pulled from his reverie, smoke spiraling into tiny whorls before fading away.

It's almost tragic, the sound of her voice, and he admits to feeling a slight amount of intrigue.

She sings a mournful balled about a girl who is searching in vain for her lover lost at sea.
