"It's you," says the tall blond man leaning on the bar again.

This time, he's no watching football, just drinking wine and reading a book.

"Guppy Sandhu wants to see you in the infirmary. He's worried. Seems you fled."

"It was a joke," he says, grumpily.

(They did have ridiculous fake moustaches, after all; if Steph gets caught, it'd probably be for the best if he spreads the idea that it was just a teenage prank.)

"You could have left a humorous note," the man says.

"One of the mustaches fell off," Alex points out.

It was very Cinderella.

"Rarely is a discarded fake moustache considered a humorous note," the man says, archly. "The context must be exactly right for the note to make sense."

Like a wet fake moustache spelling out 'Moist von Lipwig'. That's the only time a fake moustache without a person attached probably ever made sense.

"Neither is a glass slipper, but Cinderella got off all right."

"What?" the tall blond man says, apparently never having heard about Cinderella.

"She left a glass slipper at her ball, and she wound up with a kingdom."

Does using this as his example make him secretly a girl?

"A glass slipper," the man says, shaking his head. "What a strange story. Why do you think you'll get a kingdom by running away from Guppy?"

"I don't."

Obviously.

"Then why did you leave the fake moustache?" he asks, bewildered.

[v_accidentprone]

"It wasn't on purpose."

This conversation is sort of getting away from him.

The blond man gives him a long glance.

"Teenagers probably don't have to make sense," he then ponders. "You certainly don't."

[v_accidentprone]

He offers a bright grin. "That'll work."

[scots_wolf]

"Find Guppy," the man says again, and picks up his book.

He's got better things to do than understanding odd teenagers. Luckily.

And Alex, luckily, has better things to do than find Guppy.

It all works out, then.
